The EFL has sanctioned Sheffield Wednesday consistently since 2018.
Over that period, the club has been hit with multiple transfer embargoes spanning nearly a decade. By October 2025, Wednesday were under six simultaneous embargoes — the most any club has ever faced.
On top of that, the club has suffered repeated points deductions. A -12 deduction in 2020/21 severely damaged recruitment and momentum going into that season. Although it was later reduced to -6 on appeal, the damage had already been done — those points ultimately proved the difference between survival and relegation to League One.
In 2025, the situation worsened further. The club received:
•-12 points for entering administration, after the former owner failed to meet basic financial obligations such as paying wages and bills on time
•A further -6 point deduction, again due to the owner’s failure to uphold his responsibilities
This is not a case of a club gaining an unfair advantage — quite the opposite. The club has been placed at a significant competitive disadvantage for years due to sustained mismanagement.
Sheffield Wednesday has endured one of the most damaging ownership periods a club of its size is likely to experience. The former owner’s approach has not only harmed the club financially but also created a toxic environment for staff and supporters alike.
And yet, despite this, there is now an expectation that the same owner should be repaid — while the club continues to face further punishment.
How can that be justified?
The new ownership group should not be penalised for the failures of the previous regime. They should be given the opportunity to restore stability to a club that has lacked it for nearly 26 years.
Imposing further sanctions — such as another -15 point deduction, spending caps, business plan restrictions, and transfer limitations — would only deepen the damage. It risks condemning the club to yet another relegation and prolonging the cycle of instability.
At some point, there has to be recognition that continued punishment is no longer corrective — it is excessive.
The club, its staff, and its supporters deserve the chance to move forward.

@TWFootball1867 As I said last night it’s a DC deal where he controls the narrative, he’s not a business man and doesn’t understand the process by the sounds of it. In my opinion he doesn’t hold the cards. Not sure DS can go directly to him and do a deal surely it needs to go through the admin
English

@TWFootball1867 @MattTyper1 He would be willing to do a deal as he currently getting not a lot, but is it a sane mans deal of a DC deal which is probably a £2 discount. His history of deals speaks for its self. The guy has and always will be unreasonable.
English

For the record, I am not calling Storch a liar. I'm simply saying I believe Chansiri is willing to do a deal.
The wording of the statement clearly says that he's unwilling to go through admins, this may be true.
I would just ask that he goes direct and through @MattTyper1
TW Football@TWFootball1867
I know people close to Chansiri, trusted people, and I have it on good authority, and things I have seen and have in my hands, that he was willing to do a deal. I don't know if something has changed. I've gone back through the people to ask the question and get a fresh view.
English

@WTIDPOD I know who I believe regarding DC doing a deal or not. Fact is he’s losing control and trying to get something back. He might even think he can deal the takeover in some way. The guy a power freak. DS won’t stand for it and this might be his way to get DC to the table earlier.
English

@AlexJPMiller @SWFCTrust I’m not sure getting in a tit for tat with the EFL is going to help. I think the trust has made its point. Surely it’s time to let the storchs fight that fight and see what happens most people agree it doesn’t sit well what the EFL have planned but the trust won’t change it.

@Lambrettak76079 @WTIDPOD As it stands problematic, but I think there is a suggestion that we would be allowed to sign people under new owners. But let’s wait and see, for what is worth I also don’t think the -15 is nailed on.
English

@burdy8423 @WTIDPOD But what about not being able to sign players for a fee till 2027 do you think we will be able to survive.
English

🚨Understand Yan Valery to be the latest Owls player of serious transfer interest, with Rangers and Wrexham among the clubs readying bids.
Valery has fond relationship with Gers boss and ex-Owl Danny Röhl.

@robstaton Who would have thought it. Hopefully people can calm down now. People need to understand we aren’t dealing with DC anymore, we are dealing with professionals. Admin has already come out and said everything is covered by the Preferred bidder. Every penny owed will be accounted for
English

Regarding reports of Sheffield Wednesday owing Troyes £500k in instalment for Ike Ugbo fee -- understand it's been included in cash flow forecasts going back to October when #SWFC went into administration. Also understand this will be paid.
English

@TWFootball1867 He’s definitely been better these last few weeks but has a mistake or 2 in him. Probably worth a chance next year with the right partner. I think people should be looking at McNeil, adds no value and had 1 good game. The game just seems to pass him by. Seems very lightweight.
English

For what its worth, I think Gabe was outstanding first half. Ok second half. Made a couple of errors second half and one that arguably cost a goal.
The analysis of any performance is on a point by point basis; just because he played well first half doesn't excuse anything second half.
However, with experience, we should be able to get a full 90 out of these players.
I will stand on the hill that Gabe has potential to be a good player - championship level.
TW Football@TWFootball1867
Those at the game, just watch how often Gabe is talking to the back line. He's barking orders at everyone, including Palmer. Proper leader

@Dannycadz @swfc Best I think I’ve seen Bailey play for us. Loved his ball carrying yesterday get us up the pitch.

Excellent full home @swfc debut for Jarvis didn’t look out of place 👌🏽
