With the connivance of the employees of Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL), electricity worth lakhs of rupees is being stolen every month in village Gandharwan of tehsil Akhnoor. Smart meters have not been installed in the homes of influential individuals and those from whom they directly collect money illegally every month. If someone's smart meter stops working, a new service line is simply installed. Illegal connections of private motors to government hand pumps should also be investigated, and strict action should be taken against all officials involved in this scam. One more thing: People without smart meters in their homes blatantly misuse electricity, like leaving four to five halogen bulbs on all night. They even use heaters to cook. Sir, this is a grave injustice. Half the people should pay the bill, while the other half should enjoy it for free. And when I tried to report this to officials in Akhnoor working for JPDCL, such as the AEE and JE, the AEE didn't have time to listen, and the concerned JE didn't even answer the phone. Their roles in this scam should also be investigated.
