Yesterday morning at 1:30 AM, my wallet was compromised for 2349 $SOL. First off, I know this is gone. Nothing can be done. Not looking to hunt it down or throw a pity party. I'm more interested in learning what happened so it doesn't happen again. Let's take a look 👇

@burtlegm @0x_fxnction That’s not how it works. The seed phrase/private key is “hot” and fully online with MM. You understand the seed phrase is stored in the browser extension, right? You can ask MM to display it. That’s a hot wallet. The misunderstanding of basic security issues is what leads to loss

@0xBasedAnon @0x_fxnction What we mean is simply the storage of the seed phrase - not on Notion, Airtable, Notes, or anywhere online. Mine is literally written on a piece of paper in a safe. Ie, nobody can get hold of it and import my wallet. Password + Seed Phrase two dif things

@burtlegm @0x_fxnction Wait how could seed phrase be offline with MM? It’s by definition an online hot wallet. Offline seed phrase means cold storage or hardware wallet where seed never touched a networked computer. MM cannot be used offline.
