Here are some examples you might write: Decision: I decided to work late. Principle: Hard work gets you money. Decision: Hang out with friends. Principle: It’s healthy to be in community. Decision: Acquiesce to my boyfriend’s wants. Principle: I’ll be loved if I don’t create conflict.

Here's how to find the principles you're living in: 1. Write down 20 decisions you made this week. 2. Write down the principle that guided these decisions. Many people don’t realize that all of us are already operating on a set of principles — even if we don't know it. The principle might be: “I never want to feel like a failure” or “I want to win at any cost.” Whatever it is, it's leading your life

@khemaridh I think it also comes down to trusting myself. I've proven I'm pretty good at earning and saving/investing. I've yet to prove I'm all that good at spending or giving well so let's pick the more interesting path rather than quadrupling down on what we already do well.

@busquep1 I use the "3-digit rule" and that is definitely an uncomfortable amount for me. I try to "break it" 2x a year. The spending floor is an awesome idea too and great point on the identity. radreads.co/3-digit-rule/

It is way easier for me to invest than to spend money, particularly for myself. That bias has served me so well AND it's something I'm trying to reverse. For a frugal person (who with a strong scarcity wiring) it is damn hard to buy something that I know will make me happy

@levelsio People need to update the work scripts in their head too. Many people try to reinvent the suffering they’ve convinced themselves is “work” No matter what they do

Imagine the amount of chit-chat and more we could have if we got rid of menial jobs that would make everyone happier if they were fully automated People could have more leisure time to work on their mind and body health, meet friends and family, and actually have deeper conversations than just chit-chat

There’s a lot of retreats for men these days that are like let’s scale a mountain or on the other end let’s do some woo shit and psychedelics. Might need to start one that’s like hanging out shooting the shit and talking about ideas. Maybe some writing. Lots of sitting around.

@diamondhawkins_ I use it and was there. Problem is I needed marketplace to cover OBGYN, etc and now that is canceling out forward because I have an assigned GP on my insurance plan.

Hear me out….. If I go to the doctor for blood work and have new insurance (because I just went off on my own and had to join the marketplace) the blood work that used to be covered is now $400 That feels wrong. Where else is there that much price elasticity??
