Social media and citizen science platforms can be central in the early detection of invasive/alien species dispersal - like with the spread in Europe of the Egyptian Praying Mantis (Miomantis paykullii) and the European Dwarf Mantis (Ameles spallanzania): doi.org/10.3897/jor.34…

CORRECTION: On Monday, News24 published a story based on a Food Lover's Market marketing video after people experienced the video as racist.
We approached Jan Braai and angled the story around his denial of the racism allegations that stemmed from the video, which were already in the public domain. As soon as the more fulsome CCTV footage came to light, we updated the story.
In hindsight, News24 should have insisted on seeing the full CCTV footage of the event before publishing a story about the honestly held views of readers, based on partial video footage released by Food Lover's Market.
We apologise to Jan Braai and the other individuals involved. - Editor

In my view this is a very important paper. @maoviedogarcia has been posting about this for months (see buff.ly/3XdVzWi , if you have 𝕏) and it is very good to see a peer reviewed paper that explains her findings. Great work - keep it up. buff.ly/4dqYrEn

We have always said that we would say who is behind this 𝕏 account, and our web site, once we reached 10,000 followers.
In June, due to a post going viral, we sailed past that target which, to be honest, caught us by surprise. We thought we had a few months to go, but that was not the case.
Since that time, we have been playing catch up, but we said a couple of weeks ago that we would go public on the 17 Aug 2024.
So, as the day has arrived, here is who we are:
