Replaying ME2 and the implication that Liara murdered her assistant and disposed of her body in the 10 seconds it took Shepard to run to her office from the terminal is absolutely killing me. When Shepard walks in she’s casually chilling at her desk too😭

I think it would be a more complicated model (and maybe it already is.) That's the job of an actuary and why they are paid more than accountants despite being in a related space. 'Is the risk worth it' being asked by an actuary is very different than a tax being enforced by the government. One is a private interaction between people/businesses and the other is a control by the government. The part where I would agree is that it shouldn't be government backed in any way. If the loan payment fails, there should be no government resource to come to the rescue. At most, it should only be litigated by the government between the private parties. Regardless, taxing unrealized gains is absolutely insane.

Hypothetically, a crazy person offers you $1 million for 1/1,000th of the equity in your house. You still get to live there. They just own a tiny piece and hope it goes up in value. You take the deal. Congratulations, your house now has an implied valuation of $1 billion. you’re a “billionaire” Do you have a billion dollars? No. If the government wanted to tax you on your unrealized gain is there a money dollars to take? No.

One of my dangerous realizations from Charlie Kirk's assassination is that assassinations work The left mocks the "great man" theory but it is basically true. If you kill a uniquely powerful or effective person, you can decapitate a movement Ken wants his opponents decapitated. He is eager for someone to "misunderstand" his words and take inspiration from his desires and shed blood. There isn't really a good solution to this outside of stripping him of his license to practice law for this encouragement of murder. But most of his colleagues agree with him because every institution is hopelessly corrupt.

@politicalmath Charlie Kirk's assassination is the clear indicator that society is broken to the point where civil war is actually possible, because its the first assassination where large numbers of people celebrated it.

@VampyAllie I often forget that Eldrazi are pretty strong. 6 mana for a colorless creature with this ability doesn't quite feel worth it to me either, but I'm sure you could build a wild deck with it and maybe it's good in the 99 anyway.

@twinkhoncreole There are so many times Walter is offered an easy out and he always says “no I don’t want to”. The only time the meth plan makes any sense is like the first episode.

@ColtranesHorn there's a dead body alright. remember, the vast majority of people, and candidates, don't get murdered. the question is if this one did

People demanding "proof" of election fraud are not understanding how crime works. I worked at Manhattan DA for over 2 years, one in Homicide. We never had video proof of the crime. We almost never had DNA. These are things that occur on CSI on TV, not in real life. And we still convicted people all the time. What we had was testimony and circumstantial evidence. Travel times, bank records, cell phone data, gate access codes. Motive, capability, benefit, time and place. Never direct proof. Of course the defendant always denied the crime, but there was enough evidence to show that one had to have occurred nonetheless. If what we have in the LA Mayoral election is a statistical anomaly that is beyond reasonable explanation with anything besides fraud, that is enough to prove a crime. This has been true since the beginning of Western Civlization.

@RealPostFolder It's dumb because if he loves her and she's like a god, then the kid is 50% like her. So he gets 1.5 for price of one. Even if it was his own kid it still has half of his DNA
