Because the gift of music was shared and taught to me, I can continue to share and teach with others as well! Last night, my daughter Abby and I sang at Carnegie Hall after workshopping with the conductor through the week. What an experience!!!

The increase in cell phone distractions are setting kids back. With the strong leadership of MPP Jess Dixon, we are tackling this issue head-on — working to limit cell phone use & change the behaviour of kids in the classroom. We are working together to ensure students focus on the curriculum & get back to basics.

Today I had the privilege of visiting and learning at the National Music Centre. It was a boost of encouragement in both being Canadian and musical.what an opportunity in learning everything from the Kimball Organ to Music and Wellness and the Canadian Music Hall of Fame!

I actually had someone make a comment about offering classes to “pump out professional musicians” which completely misses the mark.TBH,there have been few (one played at the Opry last week) but I’d like to think teaching music has made many incredible humans.

In his Oscar acceptance speech for Best Score, Ludwig Goransson said “mom and dad, thank you for giving me drum machines and guitars instead of video games.” How true.Thank you to parents of musicians everywhere (including my own) @ludwiggoransson

Before March break I had some classes and students become frustrated with challenging music. “I can’t get it” they would say,and I would add in “yet!”We talked about practice strategies and resiliency.All of them had it by the end of the week and the pride of success was obvious!

You blink and it’s the last minute of play in the third period for the last time. Thank you to great coaches, teammates and experiences that has made this game so fun.

I am truly saddened by the loss of Denise Gagne. She had an enormous impact on the music education community. I was fortunate to join in her “MusicPlay” community for primary music and see her passion in sharing this with others. You will be deeply missed.

Primary music is essential.

Family day-Some violin, some piano, a walk, some art, some broadway review singing(okay, a lot, not some), some cross country skiing, some pizza, some fluting, some saxophoning and some drumming. What would we have done without music today. I feel energized and joyful 😊😊
