@TexianPa I meant the views I see in Facebook groups is typical of the answers I hear from people in the pews and those answers do not inspire confidence in people’s thought processes in regard to theological topics.
English

@byamabe I'd assume so. I guess my follow up question would be what do you mean by "represents"? (I know I brought up demographics when you did not mention that - seeking clarity here).
English

It seems to me that Facebook better represents #LCMS consensus than X.
English

@byamabe I would think you’d be missing a significant demographic on Facebook considering the majority of the user base for Facebook in the US is Gen X and older.
English

@WmWeedon Looking at the groups, when there is a theological question of say women’s roles or worship the arguments are basically “this is home my congregation does it.” Not something scriptural. This is the type of argument I’m used to which maybe says more about the CNH.
English

@PastorBenMeyer Maybe but it’s more of what I’m used to hearing in person.
English

@byamabe Facebook LCMS is generally the worst of the LCMS
English

@shebringsjoy I look at the groups and I’m more likely to see the responses I get in person for things like worship and women’s roles in church. X has more more “substantive” takes while Facebook is more “we’ve always done it that way”
English

I wanted to come back to this:
Facebook only shows you a very limited amount of content you’re not intentionally following. You’ll get ads, and maybe see if a friend likes or responds to something.
Here you get a front seat to everyone’s squabbles. There’s an intent to make people engage with opposing ideas.
The two are apples and oranges.

I talked to @RevGrills about his take on church planting, evangelism, pastoral formation, and of course, cryptids.

New Atheism collapsed. Now people want Bigfoot, Wicca & Eastern mysticism. Meanwhile, a confessional Lutheran pastor in Baptist Arkansas is ready to talk about all of it — and way more. Pastor @RevGrills on formation, identity & cryptids. youtu.be/WjuyQSGSEts #LCMS

Delegates often vote on candidates they know little about.
Synod Stories wants to help. Pre-convention interviews with nominees for every elected position at the 2026 LCMS Convention — same questions, every candidate, public before Phoenix.
Nominees or know one? DM me. #lcms

@serenitynow Faith Lutheran is on the southern end of OC. Capistrano Beach. They are larger and in a full sanctuary. Liturgical as well.

@serenitynow They are probably in the 75-100 range when school is in session.
English

@serenitynow St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Irvine. Drs. Espinoza and Mueller are the pastors. They use the LSB. My daughter loves it and is very particular.

Don't treat pastors with kid gloves. Ask them what they're preaching on. Ask difficult questions. Paul tells Timothy that his progress will be evident—expect to see it.

"Don't listen to me talk about the Missouri Synod for 2.5 hours and then do nothing. That's so boring. Go do something."
Dr. Koontz with a message for complainers (pastors included).

"If we believe our confession is the truth, we should have a plan." Dr. Koontz on why the LCMS only staffs financially viable congregations instead of planting new churches. We lack a mission strategy.

This was a fun one to record. Dr. Koontz’s perspective on the Pastoral Formation Gathering with a bunch of LCMS insider baseball.

Dr. Adam Koontz on pastoral formation: "If you're going to listen to me talk about the Missouri Synod for 2.5 hours and then do nothing, that's boring. Go do something." The debate that's really about ecclesiology, not just online classes. youtu.be/lhPwv2Xenwk #LCMS
