We kept ourselves busy with GPT-5.6 Sol. It's pretty good at things. Rolling out - 80% lower prices on Luna - 20% lower prices on Terra - faster speeds on GPT-5.6 Sol in /fast mode - ~ 10X cheaper auto-approve mode ("review for me" in the app), which now uses Luna to prevent many high risk actions from the main agent Towards intelligence too cheap to meter and many more breakthroughs ahead.
OpenAI@OpenAI

We are committed to pushing the model frontier across cost efficiency, capability, and speed. Starting today, we are reducing prices for GPT-5.6 Luna by 80% and GPT-5.6 Terra by 20% , and offering a faster option for GPT-5.6 Sol in the API. Luna and Terra’s lower prices are reflected in how usage is counted in Codex and ChatGPT Work, so your usage goes further.

@neptune_27 @OpenAI Bro it‘s about their gall to make intelligence broadly available and excluding subscribers from benefits like fast intelligence.

🚨Big L from OpenAI. Telling us that they want to make intelligence broadly available at low cost and excluding subscribers from those benefits is absolutely disgusting. This makes no sense. Paying 200 a month and not even really benefiting from this is crazy.

@Hesamation Yeah. You know this won‘t do shit right? Chinese AI won‘t stop for the far more advanced US AI Companies. So this letter is pretty mich worthless.

@diegohaz For 3 days already. I always test it with the same prompts, agent.md when it comes out and days after it. 5.6 got lobotomized.

GPT-5.6 Sol feels a lot dumber today. I don't know if the changes they made to ease the rate limits ended up nerfing it considerably, but it feels worse than GPT-5.5.

I hate people who say this but GPT 5.6 Sol got extremely dumb. I am using xHigh always and holy what a downgrade since launch. Frontend is basically on Claude Haiku Level now. It makes mistakes it never ever did even on 5.3 Spark. @thsottiaux what is happening here?

@AnthropicAI I use Claude Code every day to ship. The recursive self-improvement point is real. But who gets to decide the “right” pace once the tools exist? Curious how you see that working in practice.

We support this petition, signed by our CEO, several co-founders, and senior staff. Our own research on recursive self-improvement, published last month, points to the need for tools to deliberately pace the frontier of AI development so society can prepare. We’re glad to see broad agreement across the field. pacingthefrontier.com

@nikitabier Hey Nikita, how come that when you pay for Post Boosting and it says you‘ll get around 8.000-11.000 Impressions I only get 10 after payment for a Post that hits the Hype and that is written by myself? It feels like once you get Premium the Posts will not get pushed anymore.

There are a few spammers on X that have been pivoting their strategy for the last 6 months. One of the them (“This guy is a great trader ⬇️”) has pivoted a total of 40 times after each method has been blocked. Some of the techniques are so creative and fast that it feels like they’re sitting right next to us. At this point, we might as well hire them because they are just as familiar with the X codebase as us.

SOCIETY - It will become much harder to know what is real online. Fake videos, voices and news will create a huge trust problem. - Schools and universities will need completely new ways to test people. - Personal AI tutors could give everyone access to great education. - Real human personality and experience will become more valuable. - Governments will struggle to regulate AI fast enough. - Society will start asking what humans should do when machines can do almost everything.

ECONOMY - AI-first companies will grow much faster than traditional companies. - Small teams will be able to compete with huge corporations. - More people will build powerful one-person businesses. - Software, content and digital products will become much cheaper to create (already the case) - Many companies will need fewer employees to produce the same results. - Chips, energy and data centers will become some of the most valuable resources. - The gap between AI winners and everyone else will grow quickly.
