I need prayer.
Not for ALS.
Not for football season.
For secrecy.
I’m about to become a grandfather. Even typing that feels surreal. And I’ve never been under this kind of pressure in my life.
Instead of letting me share the news with the enthusiasm of a former Alabama tailback breaking into the open field, I’ve been placed on a strict confidentiality agreement.
Phase one: “Don’t tell anyone about the pregnancy yet.”
Understood. Discipline. I can handle that. I’ve operated in high-pressure environments before. I can be a vault.
Phase two: “We’re not telling anyone the gender yet.”
Now we’re in advanced clearance territory. Double-layer security. I’m over here rehearsing reaction faces in the mirror like I’m preparing for a championship moment — but saying nothing.
Phase three: “And don’t share her name.”
Her name.
At this point, I feel like I’m guarding nuclear codes. I can’t hint. I can’t cough initials. I’m afraid Alexa might overhear me and leak it to the neighborhood.
Here’s the leadership lesson in all of this: sometimes the most exciting seasons of life require restraint. Not every blessing is meant to be announced immediately. Sometimes anticipation builds character — and patience.
But let’s be honest — this proud grandfather is ONE sneeze away from breaking confidentiality.
What makes it even funnier is that while I’m sworn to silence about her name… I haven’t even picked out mine.
Because this is branding season.
Granddaddy — classic and steady.
Papa — warm and timeless.
Poppa G — smooth with rhythm.
Papa Bear — protective with presence.
OG — accurate and efficient.
Captain — leadership built in.
G-Daddy — Sunday smooth.
Big G — simple confidence.
Chief — authority.
GrandBoss — self-explanatory.
G-Force — superhero energy.
PawPaw Goode — Southern legacy.
I may have business cards printed before she arrives.
All jokes aside, this season reminds me of something powerful: joy doesn’t have to be loud to be real. Sometimes it’s quiet. Sometimes it’s protected. Sometimes it’s carried privately before it’s celebrated publicly.
What I can say is this — I already love this little girl more than she knows. And when she finally arrives, whether I’m called Papa, Big G, or OG…
She’ll know one thing for certain:
Her grandfather has been waiting his whole life for her.

Whether you like it or not @CCignettiIU proves you don’t have to run these gimmick offenses to win. This @IndianaFootball team reminds me of the @AlabamaFTBL in 2009 when he was there. Run the ball be violent at the line of scrimmage and beat you over the top with play action! Hats off to Cig!!

Hope a federal judge in Louisiana go lightly on @BOOSIEOFFICIAL tomorrow and give this man probation so that he can be out here for his kids! With the way this world is every kid needs their father in their lives especially our males!!

So excited to share this exciting news for @on3 | @Rivals and me personally/professionally ;-)
I’m stepping down from leading Product -- and never looking back ;-). After 29 1/2 years building products across Rivals, 247, and On3, I’m passing the torch to @caseycosgrove, who officially joins us today as Chief Product Officer.
More in this internal note ...
