The version numbers are a little confusing and deserve some explanation. Internally, we are working on version 9 of our new foundation model, which is 1.5T params. This is substantially better in every way than v8: data curation, training recipe, size, etc. It is also optimized to run on a Blackwells. The public facing v4.2 is based on foundation model v8, trained on Hoppers, with significant shortfalls in training data quality, comprehensiveness and proportionality. It is also only 0.5T in size. The difference between Grok foundation model 8 and 9 is gigantic.

@levelsio What is holding you back from giving Codex a good run? It is remarkably better value for $200 (heck, even at $20 it vast outperforms Claude's $20)

@theo Oh yeah, and my laptop won't run Codex App because it's too old. I'm not buying a new laptop just to run it. Terminal windows work fine. I use Textmate to view the code in those very rare cases where I find that to be helpful.

i have $20 claude, $20 gemini, $200 chatgpt, $20 cursor.
if you really need a lot of code, gemini offers cli, antigravity, jules all on separate quotas, and antigravity ships anthropic models too

No one on X seems to be happy about Anthropic giving you programmatic credits, but what is this Stockholm Syndrome holding on to a company that isn't playing programmer ball? Just switch to OpenAI, use Codex and ChatGPT, and move on. It is not like there is a dearth of choices!

We did get a codex reset Apr 28, but we haven't seen one in all of May.
We also haven't hit 5M codex users yet, presuming linear growth it should have been around May 3.
Maybe we need to evangelise harder.
