The Sameer Project kitchen decreased our daily distributions from 3,000 sandwiches to 1,500 due to lack of funds.

That’s crazy. I’ve heard some of them even save up enough money from doing this that they then buy up multiple properties that they don’t live in and then charge OTHER people to live there! And when those people can’t pay, they end up homeless! It’s disgusting.

Why are you, a socialist, talking about 1776 and not 1865? The United States has genuine democracy and genuine revolution in its history—it was strangled in the crib. We have to finish Reconstruction.

Hantavirus is not the real threat. The real threat is that health authorities around the world are normalizing preventable infections, then acting as if the damage were unavoidable. Framing illness as unavoidable is an excuse for avoidable neglect.
Arijit Chakravarty@arijitchakrav

@MeghanMcCain Scientist here, published multiple peer-reviewed papers on infectious disease. The thing to worry about is not the immediate risk of catching it (very low), or of a pandemic in the coming months (very low). The thing to worry about is public health is not doing its job (1/)

I don't think hantavirus will be the next pandemic, but how this incident is being handled shows that absolutely nothing was learned, and the millions of dollars spent on biosecurity think tank, AI slop white paper, navel-gazing has achieved absolutely nothing in terms of real policy and procedure change (although doubtless they will insist that more millions for more years of the same approach will one day payoff). There is almost no substantial improvement between how this was handled in 2026 and how it would have been handled in early 2019. Even the public comms are just as bad. The needle has not moved- at all. This gives me serious doubts if costly infrastructure Far-UVC will ever be deployed at scale in critical locations and makes me more convinced that portable Far-UVC that can be deployed in hot zones might be the only hope. If there is no chance they will have the foresight to take steps before disaster strikes, at least we can have rapidly deployable tools at hand to help stop bad situations from getting worse😕

@BINJreports Didn’t you read Gerhardson’s reporting on how this is almost certainly dead in the water? Developers have abandoned the project.

First, I would like to thank everyone who has donated. Your support is deeply appreciated. We are almost over the finish line, with less than $2,000 to go to meet our projected goal. I'm hoping that we can get over that threshold (and beyond) today. Give us a hand if you can. Any and all donations are a blessing. chuffed.org/project/177124…

Genuinely curious then, how would you evaluate the success of your approach? Are there compromises you’ve made that you regret in your career? Are there others that you feel were successful?
Boots Riley@BootsRiley

Many of u confuse me w a pre-figurative anarchist, where the priority is to (unsucessfully) be outside of captalist production. Im a communist, my goal is2help the working class overthrow the ruling class. If I get a job at boeing2organize the workers there, thats not compromise.

as someone who’s a fan of the work and knows film especially is a fraught medium given how capital intensive it is, I’d love to know sincerely how you think about partnering with Amazon or premiering at SXSW. Not just that you do it and them’s the brakes
Boots Riley@BootsRiley

Wonder if this person knows how capitalism works. Or that Annapurna (Megan Ellison's company) also put out Sorry ToBother You. Or that corporations put out The Coup's music. Or- maybe they know someone w $20M wholl give it to me to make a movie. The goal isn't gentler capitalism.
