@MartinSLewis Great breakdown. Which surely highlights a broken system. In basic terms make people struggle more so they don’t have money to spend is not going to reduce the prices (inflation) of anything. It just ruins lives.

Why Mid East conflict pushes up mortgage rates in 6 simple steps... 1. Short supply means higher oil, gas & some other commodity prices 2. As well as direct impact on petrol, heating oil, energy bills, this increases transport, cold storage and other business costs, which they pass on to us. 3. So prices are likely to rise, and inflation is the measure of price rises. 4. Bank of England is targeted on keeping inflation low. As its rising, its main tool is the UK base rate of interest (higher rates make saving more attractive and borrowing less, taking money out of economy to reduce "demand" to try and ease inflation). 5. While UK base rate hasn't changed the markets think rate cuts are now less likely. 6. In v simple terms new Mortgage fixed rates are based on the City's long term view of interest rates. That's now higher than it was so mortgage fixed rates have gone up.

My boiler has been broken for an entire month. I've had iterative repairs setting me back hundreds of pounds, but only briefly fixing each new issue. As of this morning the assessment is it has now totally given up the ghost. So now that's several thousand pounds. Fantastic.

The difference in reaction to AI being used in Crimson Desert and DLSS 5 just proves how much performative hypocrisy exists in gaming right now. Some accounts are acting outraged over AI paintings in a video game, but the comments show that most players really don't care. Meanwhile, the DLSS 5 comment sections are full of people crying that they want "ZERO AI" in their games. It’s all just performative hate to fit in with everyone else on the bandwagon. When DLSS 5 actually drops and gives them generational leap in visuals, the same people complaining today will happily flip the switch and use it but likely be very quiet about it until the narrative finally flips...just like what happened with previous versions of DLSS.

Cyberpunk 2077 on Switch 2 outsold the Xbox Series version of the game in 2025 despite only being on sale for half the year. 10% of the sales were on Switch 2. Switch 2 is actually making a nice positive impact for developers in revenue, more reason to make high quality ports.

So nearly 90% of gamers say reviewers should be required to finish a game before scoring them. Nearly 1/3 of those gamers allow for special exceptions (presumably a big game like Crimson Desert). Unfortunately most websites won’t listen to gamers that want this, they’d rather make sure they hit embargo.

Crimson Dessert is not for everyone, the same way that games like Dark Souls are not for everyone. This game has a ton of game mechanics, controls that are a hassle to learn and the puzzles can be troublesome for some gamers due to the game’s nature of not giving you any hints at all if you’re stuck somewhere, it just lets you figure out things on your own. Whenever that makes this a good or bad game is totally subjective, I think that it truly depends on how much time you’re willing to invest in Crimson Desert to get through its learning curve.
