#Echobox=1781948599" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">zaobao.com.sg/news/china/sto…

@NOTonlywater $400 spender usually falls into the Dolphin tier. Puma is definitely not poor to spent that amount. Basic salary in Taiwan is NT$29,500 per month which is more than 40% of those that really have a poor income. Puma characterization need to be updated to hardcore dolphin gamer

@abigbluebird Call me Wumao, whatever.Don't be presumptuous. In China, there are very few people who still regard Singapore as "one of our own." No one cares whether the Singaporean Chinese have a concept of roots in their hearts.

Beyond the state/government’s view point, such a mentality is also deeply embedded within the Chinese population. I’m a Singaporean ethnic Chinese and people I meet in China still ask about where’s my hometown. Imagine asking an American which town in Germany, Ireland, Italy etc his ancestors were from. Only the mafia does it for recruitment purposes lol. Of course, I know which town my great-grandparents were from. And then? There’s one too many odd Chinese fixations and ‘principles’ which are meaningless except for the sake of it and appearing cultured, including ‘remembering your roots’. Am I getting free healthcare in China or a state-subsidized apartment in Shanghai?

Singapore's most senior diplomat just stood on Chinese soil and told the Chinese state directly: we cooperate with you because of shared interests, not because of shared blood. That sentence is more significant than it sounds. Lee Hsien Loong, Singapore's former Prime Minister and current Senior Minister, completed a five-day visit to China last week, meeting officials in Guangxi and Shanghai. Speaking to Singapore media on May 22, he was direct: "We are a Chinese-majority country, but we are a multiracial society. We are a separate country with separate sovereignty from China." He added that Singapore's ties with China are grounded in mutual benefit, not shared ethnicity or ancestry. This is a deliberate and pointed statement. The CCP has spent decades promoting the idea that ethnic Chinese people around the world, regardless of citizenship, share a special bond with the Chinese motherland. The concept of 同宗同源, meaning "same ancestry, same roots," is embedded in Chinese state rhetoric aimed at diaspora communities across Southeast Asia, including Singapore's Chinese majority. United Front Work Department operations, diaspora engagement programs, and state media all lean on this framing to cultivate affinity, influence, and loyalty among overseas Chinese populations. Lee Hsien Loong said that is not the basis of Singapore's relationship with China. Singapore cooperates with Beijing because it serves Singapore's interests. Full stop. The moment those interests diverge, the shared ethnicity changes nothing. Singapore has maintained this position since Lee Kuan Yew built the country. It rejects the "Third China" label. It maintains strong ties with the United States, Japan, and the West while trading extensively with Beijing. It is ethnically Chinese-majority and fiercely sovereign. That combination makes it a direct challenge to the CCP's narrative that Chinese ethnicity implies Chinese political alignment. Lee said it in Shanghai. In front of Chinese media. After visiting Chinese officials. The message was intentional and the audience was chosen carefully. #Singapore #China #CCP #LeeHsienLoong #Sovereignty #Geopolitics #SoutheastAsia #UnitedFront #Diaspora #ASEAN

as someone who literally flies overseas (even to japan) and goes trough the hurdle of buying tickets on pia just to watch my her band i think making shows in japan more foreign friendly is a viable option too and i think when picking a country and a date to perform overseas--
NANO-ナノ-OFFICIAL@nanonano_me

If you’re a fan of Japanese music and live outside of Japan, I would be so grateful if you take a moment to read this🙏 If you’ve ever wondered why more Japanese artists don’t reach out and do shows & tours overseas, the reason is pretty simple and the main one is the hurdle of selling tickets. There is only a SMALL percentage of artists that can rely on the power of big labels/agents to promote their shows internationally. Even in Japan, selling out shows is a lot more challenging than in past years, due to people just being satisfied with digital content. And considering it costs even more to bring a tour overseas, you can imagine how many artists are willing to LOSE money by doing so, if any. It’s not just about the artist not being popular or sufficient enough, or that they don’t have the will to bring their content to fans around the world. In fact, there are so many fellow artists around me that I highly respect, telling me they wish they could do shows overseas, but know it’s not realistically possible, and as someone who yearns for the same thing, it really, really hurts inside. More importantly, it hurts most that fans around the world will often never ever be able to see a show of their favorite Japanese artist. I’m not trying to ask for pity, nor demand anything, unless this resonates with you. But if it does, and you want to know what you can do to help us reach you with our music, it’s really very simple. Please go follow artist’s socials. Please go subscribe to their Youtube channels. Please find them on Spotify. Please interact with them by commenting and letting them know you’re there to support them. Please share your passion with the people around you. AND PLEASE, don’t miss the opportunity to buy a ticket and GO to their shows, when that miraculous opportunity comes, whether it’s a solo or event stage. I am not exaggerating when I say it IS a miracle and it might never happen again. I know writing all this isn’t gonna change much, but I just hope it reminds you that every listener, every fan, every second of support matters in keeping music alive, particularly in this generation. Thanks for listening, if you made it this far🫶 Let’s keep Rocking On. NANO

Had a chat with my dad today. We made some predictions for Singapore over the next 10 years. Singapore will: 🏭 Build a mini nuclear reactor on one of its southern islands. It will power both the grid and a new gigawatt-scale data centre. 🎨 Set up a dedicated arts university. Growing artistry alongside finance and tech — same energy as when they built the Esplanade. 🏢 House the actual HQ of an S&P 500 tech company — not a twin HQ, the real one. We've already seen dual HQs like HSBC and Ingenico. The next step is a full migration by a US co. 🏆 Win a Nobel Prize. My bet is in materials science, quantum, or medical research. 👔 An ex-minister will take a leadership role at a global tech company. Think Nick Clegg at Meta, but Singapore's version. 🎢 Get a Disneyland. On top of USS. 💲USD:SGD parity, almost.

At Tokyo Game Show 2010, attendees waiting in line to play the Mega Man Universe demo could scan a QR code to download an exclusive mobile wallpaper featuring a group of Mets dogpiling Mega Man. Unfortunately, this image from Capcom’s stage presentation is the only known glimpse of the piece, which remains lost. I have been unable to find *anyone* who actually downloaded it.

@Amirrozzo @kaplapusing @FreeMsian It's really the former Malaysian who do so. It's a waste of time to go to Malaysia for the cheaper groceries. Singaporeans who can afford a new car should earn least S$5,000. Which is around 30 sgd per hour, let say a person spend6 hours to travel to and fro plus shopping
