Great question! It's tricky to know for sure, but tx indexing gives a good reference. We can assume top-of-block arbs backrun the previous block, while rest-of-block arbs are mostly blind attempts (though maybe not always!). Drawing the line at 10 as a top-of-block index, ~90% of atomic arbs backran the prior block vs blind in January. So I think it's fair to say most searchers are competing over prior block arbs at the moment.

@c__bergz @niteshnath Although there’s no mempool, there’s a lot of same block blind arbs, curious on finding the percentage of same block back run dex arbs vs next block front run (priority fee) dex arb last block’s inefficiencies.

1/ Activity is picking up on Base. The chain surpassed $1bn daily volume in November, fueled in part by AI-agent and memecoin trading hype. As always, with more volume comes more opportunities for MEV searchers. But what’s the scale of MEV activity and value leaked?

7/ TL;DR MEV is a huge revenue source for Base, but it costs apps and users, especially LPs via LVR. As Base competes for memecoin and AI-agent volume, redistribution could improve the DEX experience, boosting liquidity and trading volumes.

6/ Apps could take matters into their own hands as well with solutions like Application-Specific Sequencing (ASS) and MEV Taxes, helping recapture value lost to the sequencer. They can then redistribute that value back to users, like LPs, to improve the overall experience.

I'd love to see both teams focus a little more on value redistribution to apps / users instead of prioritizing validators profits, à la mev-share. But that's more on the app layer -- s/o to @dflow for bringing conditional liquidity fee improvements to LPs and swappers!

Jito's approach does def consolidate orderflow and force participation -- arguably monopolizing the tx lifecycle a bit aggressively. For now, that's been the best way to improve competition and limit MEV's impact on the global network (similar to mev-boost on ETH).

Good discussion here with interesting tradeoffs around MEV orderflow and value capture. IMO both teams put too much emphasis on validator profits at the expense of users, but accepting the inevitability of MEV I'd lean more towards Jito's point of view.
Uri Klarman ⚔️@uriklarman

Jito's dirty secret @buffalu__ published a hit piece on Paladin tonight TLDR -I'm so concerned -Paladin doesn't pay validators more -reduces MEV tips -doesn't improve tech, just try to capture order flow here's what Jito doesn't want you to know x.com/buffalu__/stat… 1/7

I had a great conversation with @derek_hsue on the @ReveriePod, diving into Gattaca’s journey and covering everything from MEV to block building to private orderflow. Thanks for having me!
Derek Hsue@derekhsue

Really enjoyed this chat with @kubimensah about all things Gattaca! Their growth into a top 2 block builder in Ethereum over the last year is a remarkable journey. We dig into that, how their products (@titanbuilderxyz, @titanrelayxyz) work, the MEV landscape, and what the future holds. reverie.ooo/podcast-episod…

Awesome data from @KamBenbrik -- HL will be an interesting case study on pre-token PMF. No doubt they offer a powerful/competitive trading experience, but how much of that retail flow sticks around post token?
Kam 🌑@KamBenbrik

Competition @HyperliquidX vs @dYdX: This is super interesting to follow. Hyperliquid is challenging dYdX in terms of trading volume and has emerged as one of the major derivatives/perp exchanges in less than a year.

The success of Fireblocks is an inspiration for new builders in crypto. In this chat, Michael shares with us their playbook for tapping design partners and scaling the business. Great insights for anyone building a SaaS company in crypto!
Larry Sukernik@lsukernik

Fireblocks is one of the largest companies in crypto, but very few people have studied the playbooks they used to build such a great company We've known the CEO Michael Shaulov for a long time and are very excited to share this conversation we had with him on @ReveriePod If you want to build a successful SaaS company in crypto, you'll love this episode reverie.ooo/podcast-episod…
