@aviationbrk 9,186 feet of runway at Muan should have been more than enough to stop. It will be interesting to find out where they touched down on the runway and at what speed.

Jeju Air 737-800 has crashed after overrunning the runway at Muan International Airport, South Korea. The aircraft overran runway 01 and was destroyed when it collided with a ground obstacle, the aircraft disintegrated and burst into flames. The accident was caused by a landing gear malfunction, officials said. At least 120 people have been killed.

@JonathanBstone @aviationbrk Therefore it’s very weird to me that they went around, presumably needed to land quickly, and landed with no gear, no flaps, with so much excess speed , already half way down the runway. (2/2)

@JonathanBstone @aviationbrk Only thing is in that video of the engine problem, the aircraft is lined up for runway 01, whereas in the accident video , it’s landing from the north , runway 19, in that time from the engine problem to the crash, they would have gone around and circled to land runway 19 (1/2)
