@quachelsey We are struggling with this now. I know it may be easier when they start school but the north country is very isolating (though very beautiful) and we’ve had a hard time finding young families.

@cahwit @AnthropoceneMe1 For baking at that age I just let them mix. I see people do these videos where they Crack eggs and such but I dont want to waste ingredients 😂. They are satisfied with mixing and for sweets they get a utensil with batter to lick. Win win win

I think a lot about how to de-center our children as the main driver of our lives.
We can often ignore the older two, but the 2 and (almost) 4 year old really do seem to need constant attention to survive.
At least one of us is always tied down monitoring, wiping ass etc.

I'm going to be harsh - shocking I know - but this is a choice. You do not have to give up your hobbies, interests, passions or identity when having kids. This modern notion of needing to neurotically helicopter over your kids and sequester them away in "kid centric" activities is bizarre and stupid and boring. You can just take your kids to your events and activities. You can just do uour hobbies. You can tell your kids you're busy and to go and play independently. You'll be happier for it and your kids will be more resilient and capable.

@KristinCarrigg I regularly make 30 (smallish) burgers at a time on the grill so my kids will eat leftovers for lunch/snack and it's 30 mins max. Also one of the cheaper meals because you can buy ground beef in bulk.

Continuing the WTF are people doing to feed themselves and their families discourse, I have no idea how this woman could spend $90 to make cheeseburgers at home. @Utterly_Jean what!! I made each of my kids a few special quilts when they were babies and they’ve been in their cribs/toddler beds ever since. getting washed and dried all the time and they look better and better. quilts should be used!

@SummrWrites Same thing with quilts. I get people asking for a quilt and want to pay $100 or so. That doesn't even come close to cover the fabric not including the batting, thread, backing and definitely not labor. Quilts are a labor of love so if you get one cherish it. 😉😊
