An excellent display showing how the privileged people had real gems meanwhile the less privileged had imitations made of glass. If you're in town, do check out the museum.

Visited the @UQAntiquities Museum earlier this week. Interesting to see intaglios on full display considering recent news articles on this type of items being stolen from British Museum & sold on eBay - I hope the museum will conduct provenance checks in light of the situation.

Unfortunately, I've not seen any photographs of the Melbourne display of the mosaic to be able to check (do any exist?) All of the guides and images produced and reproduced from 1919 to its display in Canberra after 1941 are from the illustration tradition.

(Source: AWM315/748/003/026 01B, pp 80-) Whether this piece was still part of the mosaic when it was taken to Australia, or was destroyed in the process of removal like significant other sections is difficult to tell from this one source.

Did the @AWMemorial lose part of the #ShellalMosaic? Illustrations taken before its removal show the hind quarters of a dog in the 5th position of the mosiac's 4th row, but this roundel is missing from the surviving mosaic.
