Trump is withholding $300M in science $ from UCLA based on antisemitism & inviting UCLA to “resolve this matter,” presumably by giving Trump control of the university. Having worked to stop antisemitism at UCLA & other UCs, I’ll say this about Trump’s pretextual, fascist move:🧵

🌲 Happy Tu Bishvat, birthday of the trees! Today, we recognize the importance of nature, trees, and the environment in our lives, as well as our role in protecting them. As we celebrate, let’s be reminded that we get one planet and it’s our job to take care of it.

This morning I met with local Jewish community members for my annual Jewish Roundtable. Now more than ever, discussions like these serve to help me assess the needs and priorities of our Jewish population. It was a great conversation full of focus, determination, but also hope.

As a proud alum of @BerkeleyLaw, former student member of the UC Board of Regents, and son of a @UCLA professor, it was an honor receiving @UofCalifornia's Legislator of the Year award!

Today we celebrate the birth of Rosa Parks, a trailblazer who stood up for civil rights and racial equality by refusing to accept injustice. May her legacy continue to inspire us in the face of challenges and strive for a more just and equitable society. #BlackHistoryMonth

80 yrs ago Auschwitz was liberated. Today, most Americans under 40 never heard of such a place. @CAgovernor reports shocking findings: ~26% of CA schools require Holocaust or genocide education of any kind. Look forward to working with Council co-chairs @AGRobBonta @TonyThurmond @CAJewishCaucus to remedy this risk. @CADeptEd is on the right track with @HolocaustJFCS and a growing collaborative of teachers determined to bring Holocaust education back to life in California classrooms.
