One year later, the devastation of the LA fires remains. Today I stood with colleagues in a moment of silence to remember my home that was burned, friends that were killed, and beloved places lost forever. I know what it means to lose everything in a fire. Survivors have already endured enough, and they shouldn’t be caught in political games. The court has ruled now it’s time for President Trump to release the funds and move recovery forward.

As Chair of the Senate Emergency Management Committee, I’m proud to serve a state with a Governor who shows up for people. The $107.3 million for wildfire survivor housing is a critical step forward.   I know what it feels like to lose everything in a fire. Survivors have already endured enough, and they shouldn’t be caught in political games. Now that the court has ruled, it is time for Trump to follow through on his promise and release the billions being withheld so we can move this recovery forward.

🚨BREAKING: US District Court Judge Wise denied the motion by “LA Educators for Justice in Palestine” seeking to enjoin the enforcement of AB 715, our bill to stop rising antisemitism in K12 classrooms. The court rejected the plaintiffs’ argument that the 1st Amndt allows teachers to teach antisemitic lessons bc teachers dont speak as private citizens when they provide instruction—this is govt speech. Thanks to @CAgovernor @AGRobBonta @TonyThurmond @AJCGlobal for defending Jewish students in CA. The case isn’t over yet. But I feel a lot safer as a Jewish parent going into 2026.

Apologies for feeding the increasingly violent antisemitic frenzy sweeping this country and the world is not enough. The @MayorofRichmond should resign.

If you aren't aware of what's going on right now, let me break it down for you. Jews worldwide are being hunted down and killed. It's only day three of Hanukkah, and already we've seen: 1. Jews murdered by a jihadi father-son duo in Australia that seriously wounded many people, including my friend @Ostrov_A (thinking of you, brother). 2. Students at @BrownUniversity were murdered in a class being taught by Rachel Friedberg, a Jewish professor who leads the school's Judaic Studies program. 3. A Jewish professor of nuclear physics at M.I.T. was murdered in his home today. 4. Orthodox Jews in New York were violently assaulted on the subway. 5. Violent Palestinian protestors disrupted a peaceful Hanukkah celebration in Amsterdam. Dozens were arrested after police had to physically surround families celebrating the holiday to protect them. 6. A Jewish family in California had their home hit by gunfire because they had Hanukkah decorations up. One of the criminals shouted, "Free Palestine." 7. An Islamic terrorist attack has been foiled in Poland at a Christmas market. 8. An Islamic terrorist attack has been foiled in Germany at a Christmas market. 9. A Palestinian terrorist attack was foiled in California. 10. France has cancelled its NYE celebrations because of the terrorist threat level. 11. Canada's Integrated Terrorism Assessment Centre has said that a terrorist attack in Canada is now "a realistic possibility." I've been studying terrorism for 20 years, and I've never seen things this bad. The West is under attack – full stop. The question now is, what the hell are we going to do about it?

My dad, Alex Kleytman, an 87-year-old Holocaust survivor, was murdered on December 14, 2025, at Bondi Beach Hanukkah Lighting Festival. He was a fascinating, cheerful and kind person of many talents with an unwavering spirit. He died shielding my mum, Larisa. 🧵

We can’t keep falsely vilifying the Jewish people for “genocide” and not expect Bondi in our backyard (see Turtle Island). To those blowing the anti-Israel anti-Jewish dog whistles daily: now is the time to acknowledge you have gone too far and help make things right.

It is deeply concerning that one of the individuals arrested for their alleged involvement in this plot also participated in the antisemitic protest that escalated into violence at Wilshire Boulevard Temple earlier this month in Los Angeles, CA.
