Today I'm launching Forthwell, my personal brand — and the name says everything about what I'm trying to do with my life. Forth. To move forward. To go out into the world with intention and purpose. Well. With excellence. With care. With conviction. That's the goal. Not just to be busy or to build things, but to move through the world in a way that actually matters — and to pour that same standard into every endeavor I'm a part of. I'm genuinely humbled by the work I get to be involved in. Consulting, civic leadership, technology, faith, community, writing — each one a different expression of the same deep desire: that the work I do would be a blessing to the people and communities around me in some real, tangible way. Forthwell is the home for all of it. Come take a look — forthwell.co — and I'd love to hear what you're working on too.

Today, in honor of Christian County Sheriff's Office Deputies Gabriel Ramirez and Michael Hislope, flags are be flown at half-staff at government buildings in Christian and Greene counties, all police stations, sheriffs’ offices, and Missouri State Highway Patrol general and troop headquarters across Missouri. Bravery, dedication to duty, and service to others defined these fine men, who each defended our nation as soldiers before selflessly serving Christian County as deputy sheriffs. Sadly, these courageous heroes lost their lives because of an evil, violent, career criminal who should not have been free to commit these heinous crimes. Claudia and I are keeping both families, the Christian County Sheriff's Office, and the entire law enforcement community in our prayers during this difficult time. Ramirez’s and Hislope’s legacies will not be forgotten.

Travis is a dear friend, and has been a true public servant in every sense of the phrase. He will be missed in #MOLeg, but this is a perfect fit for his skill set and passion. A home run hire for MTC!
Travis Fitzwater 🇺🇸@travisfitzwater

Dear Friends and Constituents, After almost 12 years in the Missouri House and Senate—starting when I got elected in 2014 and then winning the Senate seat in 2022—I'm sharing some big personal news with a lot of gratitude: I won't be seeking re-election to the Missouri State Senate. Serving you all has been the honor of my life. From pounding the pavement knocking on doors across eastern and mid-Missouri to pushing for better economic development, stronger schools, family values, and real innovation in Jefferson City, I've been blessed to work side-by-side with good people on both sides of the aisle to make our state a better place. Now, my family and I are heading in a new direction, and I'm excited to step into the role of Executive Director at the Missouri Technology Corporation (MTC). MTC is a key public-private partnership investing in high-growth startups, backing entrepreneurs, and fueling tech-driven growth all over Missouri—from the big cities like St. Louis and Kansas City to Columbia, Springfield, and across our rural communities. With our statewide innovation network and the moment we're in, it's the ideal time to push Missouri forward as a leader in innovation. I'll be leaning on everything I've learned in the legislature, my time on the MTC Board, and my background running businesses and serving in the community to build transparent partnerships, bring in more investment, and help Governor Kehoe build a dynamic economy: More jobs, more follow-on capital, and more opportunities for everyday Missourians. To everyone in District 10—Callaway, Lincoln, Montgomery, Pike, and our beloved slice of St. Charles County—and to all of you who've backed me along the way: Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your encouragement, your prayers, your trust—they've meant the world to me and my family. I'll keep serving until the transition wraps up. Timing will be announced soon, worked out with legislative leadership and the MTC Board. Until then, my door's still open—always has been, always will be. Missouri's future looks bright, and I'm filled with optimism as we keep working together to open up more doors across this beautiful state. God bless you all, and God bless Missouri! 🇺🇸 With real gratitude, Travis Fitzwater

I don't know what this week holds 4 you. But it's worth remembering that grace isn't something you're working toward. It's something you're already inside of. You don't have 2 earn your way into it. You just have 2 stop assuming you've been disqualified. view.flodesk.com/emails/6999a82…

We will not tolerate drug dealers who hide behind candy wrappers to indoctrinate our kids into addiction.  My Office has filed suit against a business selling dangerously marketed illegal THC products.

I’ve been trying to process the news out of Minnesota, and honestly, it’s left me with a pit in my stomach. Not just because of the incident itself, but also because of the immediate, mechanical response to it. Nobody pauses. Nobody listens. We just rush to our corners and come out swinging. A man is dead. A family is grieving. That has to matter more than the next political talking point. When we bypass the reality of a human loss just to score points on our preferred social channel, we lose a piece of our humanity. The biggest casualty here is nuance. I keep thinking about how two things can be true at once, even if our current climate hates that idea. I don’t think protesters should be messing with federal agents. I also believe law-abiding Americans have a right to bear arms. But rights come with responsibilities. Wisdom is knowing the difference between what you can do and what you should do. Inserting yourself into a standoff with federal agents while armed creates a powder keg. Admitting that isn't a betrayal of values; it’s just acknowledging reality. But we have no patience for reality. We grab the narrative that fits our anger and defend it as gospel. James said to be quick to listen and slow to speak. We’ve inverted that completely. We are quick to rage and deaf to anything that complicates our worldview. Context matters here. The Biden years created a genuine crisis of authority at the border, and people felt ignored. Trump became the answer to that—a sledgehammer chosen because the scalpel wasn’t working. But now we’re seeing the friction that comes with the sledgehammer. It’s a cycle of over-correction, and the pendulum just keeps swinging harder. I think much of this comes down to trust. When Democrats act like basic enforcement is a moral evil, they lose credibility with normal people. When Republicans cheer for chaos just to prove a point, they lose the folks who want law and order without the volatility. The middle is shrinking, and that should scare all of us. Here’s where I stand: The law means nothing if it isn't enforced. If you’re here illegally, you are subject to deportation. That’s the baseline. But strategy matters. Prioritizing violent criminals, gangs, and dealers isn't "soft"—it's tactical. It proves you can restore order without tearing the country apart at the seams. We can’t keep doing this. A country can’t function if every enforcement action is treated like the opening shot of a civil war. We need to stop rewarding the fear-mongering and start valuing wisdom again. If we don’t find a way to lower the temperature, the cost of this division is only going to get higher.
