@publikphigor Yolat does actually send and receive from Momo… you can try out your next transactions on our website Yolat.com or download the app on Playstore or AppStore

@callyolat No I haven't but here's the thing:
If you're talking about Benin, Togo, and Ghana, they mostly use MoMo.
I have no idea how your app works but if it can't send/receive from MoMo, then it doesn't solve the problem.

All the times I've traveled to West African countries, I've never experienced seamless cross-border payments.
For me, it's not seamless if the platform isn't widely acceptable by the people you want to transact with. The best option remains changing cash at the border/airport.
MTN MoMo is the popular payment method for these guys. I've not found one Nigerian fintech that makes this experience of sending money to them EASY. I've tried a lot btw.
I'm not saying it's not possible, it's just not as seamless as going to the market, asking for their account number and paying for what you want from whatever app you use.
Fintechs can shift focus from the Nigerian market and find a way to better the experience of cross-border payments. And no, it's not by having meetings in a boardroom. You need to be on ground, spend a week from Benin through Ghana and experience first hand what the problem is before crafting a solution.

I love the new Healthy competition going on among our 🇳🇬fintech bank and Chinese fintech bank. From your experience, which one is making your transactions more efficient between OPay and Moniepoint?

@powerfulbadeeu This is why Yolat shows you the real rate upfront.
No hidden cuts. No disappearing value.
If someone sends ₦1M, you see exactly what lands before you transfer.

Ustahdz, borrowing is not an issue, but there’s always a problem, anytime I borrow anyone money in Naija, I run at a loss, let’s say I borrow a friend 1 million naira and I exchanged 500 pounds to get this, by the time he’s giving me back my one million naira and I convert back to pounds, I will likely be getting 450pounds, meaning I’ve lost 50 pounds (100 thousand naira) for no fault of mine.
This is the reason why many abroadians find it difficult to borrow friends/family back home, except the friends/family promise to pay back the exact 500 pounds, which is even a loss for the friend, because he’ll get 1 million naira and will need to pay back 1.1 million naira.

Is there a way you can ask for a loan from your friends abroad without it looking like you're profiling them? 😂😂
