Nigel Farage has specific security issues. But £5 million is a massive amount of money. It doesn’t seem credible to me personal security expenditure can account for this level of donation. Or the failure to register. There are serious questions to answer here.

From the always insightful Stephen Daisley, this tells you more about the sad state of the country than a thousand pieces of Westminster analysis. Scotland is already a lost cause. But the rest of the country is heading in the same direction. spectator.com/article/malcol…

If OPEC collapses, oil production soars, and prices consequently fall below where they otherwise would be - perhaps long term the Iran war would have been worth it after all. That’s an enormous if.

John Higgins has knocked out Ronnie O'Sullivan in a classic at the Crucible! Higgins responded from being 9-4 down to produce a brilliant comeback. What a match! 😮

I welcome the agreement reached by John Cotton and Labour with Unite to bring an end to the bin strikes. This has been a difficult period for the city. Residents have felt the impact and workers have been looking for fairness and certainty. Throughout, John and his team have stayed focused on getting round the table and finding a fair settlement for the council workers. This is a good deal that will deliver a better refuse and recycling service and a settlement that respects the need to deliver value for money for residents. What matters now is delivery. After polling day, this agreement must be honoured in full, with a clear timetable and a formal resolution that gives confidence to workers and residents alike. As Mayor, I will continue to do everything I can to support that process and to help ensure this deal delivers for Birmingham and the wider region. It's clear that only Labour has an agreed plan to end this strike.

Tougher rules on pet passports end ‘EU citizen’ loophole for cats, dogs and ferrets. Residents of England/Wales/Scotland must get an Animal Health Certificate every time they take their pet to Europe. Northern Ireland pets can still get an EU pet passport. independent.co.uk/travel/news-an…

There is now no ambiguity. Keir Starmer lied and lied and lied again when he said due process had been followed in relation to Mandelson's appointment.

I think the PM is safe if the BBC’s political editor can’t distinguish between knowing the ‘details’ of Mandelson’s vetting and simply knowing its outcome.

George Robertson is old Labour, an elder statesman, respected on all sides... a serious man... and crucially a *patriot*. Starmer is the exact opposite of him in every respect. We remove Starmer and his wretched party soon or we face grave danger.

With suggestions America might reintroduce the military draft, let's hope they remember one important lesson from the late 1960s and early 70s. IQ floors are important.

It’s very cool that America has three insanely powerful rocket designs now. But the SLS is very clearly the last gasp of the non-reusable era of cripplingly expensive state based innovation. The baton is being passed soon.
