TIME Reporter: Trump told me he wants to go into a second term and consolidate power into the office of the presidency so that he can remove the guardrails that stood in the way the last time. He would not hire anyone who admits he lost the last election. He wants to fill the executive branch with true believers of the MAGA doctrine

President Biden: Your senator Ted Budd called the infrastructure law ‘a liberal Trojan horse for a socialist agenda.’ I don't know about you, but I don't think ensuring kids can drink clean water to avoid brain damage is a socialist agenda. I think it's just plain decency. But as you might guess, the senator hasn't been shy. He's asked on 10 separate occasions for new funding in those very laws. As they say, God bless the boy. I didn't think the senator was a socialist. But that's okay, I promised to be a president for all Americans. So, senator I'll see you at the groundbreaking

AFRICAN & BLACK HISTORY

In 1893, Frederick Douglass invited Ida B. Wells to lunch. She noted a place across the street, but indicated they would not receive service there. “Mr. Douglass, in his vigorous way, grasped my arm and said, ‘Come, let’s go there.’” Together, they “sauntered in...as if it were an everyday occurrence, cocked and primed for the fight if necessary.” Douglass grabbed a table and chair for him and Wells, as “paralyzed” staff looked on. A stand-off ensued with wait staff until the proprietor realized it was Frederick Douglass, and warmly welcomed him while sharing stories of a time past when Douglass visited his hometown. “When [the proprietor] finally went to another part of the room, Mr. Douglass turned to me with a roguish look and said, ‘Ida, I thought you said that they didn’t serve us here. It seems we are getting more attention than we want.’” Frederick Douglass spent his life fighting for justice and equality. He never knew the date of his birth. This is something he struggled with throughout his lifetime. Douglass believed that he was born in the month of February in 1817. In fact, records show that Douglass was born in February of 1818. He chose the 14th of February for his birthday because his mother would call him her “little Valentine." Unfortunately, Douglass never knew much about his parentage. His mother, Harriet, was sold off when Douglass was but a child, and he only met her a few times before she passed away. Though born enslaved in Maryland, he escaped as a young man and became a leading voice in the abolitionist movement. 🖋️if you love our content, please consider supporting our page on AfricanArchives.Support (follow the ko-fi page too for weekly posts roundup)

CALL TO ACTIVISM
CALL TO ACTIVISM@CalltoActivism·
This is crazy: An upstate Republican NY DA refused to stop for speeding, and drove back home after calling the police chief to complain. Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley admitted that she was driving 55 mph in a 35 mph zone but refused to stop. The officer followed her to her home and issued Doorley a ticket, which she accepted, but not before calling the officer an asshole and running inside her home. In the video, she gets on the phone and calls Webster Chief of Police Dennis Kohlmeier and asks him “can you please tell them to leave me alone?” Why does this Republican DA think she’s above the law? Should she be fired?

This gives the whole game away. Trump’s lawyers said senate conviction wasn’t necessary in 2021 because “everyone knows, and the Constitution makes clear, that Trump can be prosecuted after leaving office for crimes committed in office.” Now they’re arguing the exact opposite.
All In with Chris Hayes@allinwithchris

WATCH-- @chrislhayes on the Trump immunity argument: One of the most galling things is that during Trump's own impeachment trial for his coup attempt, his own lawyer then argued the literal opposite of what his lawyer is now arguing to a receptive Supreme Court.
