@therobcampbell @MyTaxesR_2High I think Guelph sits around 150,000 or so currently, however, when the university of Guelph students and Conestoga College students arrive, I think we jump up to an about 180,000.

How does a city with 180,000 population sell less homes (units) than in the year 2001 when the population was 70% LOWER?! Where did the 42M people and supply issues go in Canada?

This evening, I was pleased to welcome the Ontario Big City Mayors to Pickering for their AGM and speak about #ONBudget2026. Our government is making key investments across the province to support municipalities, strengthen our communities, and help our workers and families stay resilient as we navigate ongoing economic uncertainty.

Working with our municipal partners is imperative to keeping our province competitive. This week, I met with the Ontario Big City Mayors, who represent nearly 70% of Ontario’s population. Thank you to Chair @MariannMeedWard, Vice-Chair @AlexFromBarrie and all of Ontario’s Big City Mayors for stepping up and being champions of your communities. Together, we can make meaningful change to better the lives of those we represent.

My son Jesse passed away yesterday in Ottawa, only 45, probably diabetic complications. Outliving your children is a hard thing to accept.

Thank you to the @fordnation government alongside the leadership of Minister @RobFlackEML and @Rae_Matt for this fantastic contribution towards much needed housing in #Guelph! In partnership with the Federal Government and advocacy from the City and our Social Services Manager @wellingtncounty we’re getting it done!
Matthew Rae@Rae_Matt

Proud to announce nearly $4 million in provincial funding to support two important housing projects — Stepping Stone and Welcome 2 Waterloo — in @cityofguelph. 🏗️🏡 I was pleased to make this announcement on behalf of the Hon. @RobFlackEML alongside many valued community partners. Strong partnerships are key to tackling homelessness and delivering practical housing solutions as we continue to protect Ontario and support our communities. 👏

Federation of Canadian Municipalities
FCM welcomes today’s launch of the federal government’s Build Communities Strong Fund. Municipal infrastructure is the backbone of the Canadian economy. Across the country, municipalities are using federal infrastructure funding to get infrastructure projects moving this construction season. With the Direct Delivery Stream, we can accelerate projects and deliver the housing and infrastructure Canadians need—faster. The Community Stream remains the bedrock of federal infrastructure funding—proven, reliable and scalable. We look forward to working with the federal government on a national infrastructure plan that matches the pace and scale of our shared ambitions on housing, trade diversification and economic growth—and dedicated funding for rural and northern communities. #CDNMuni #cdnpoli
