Had an interesting interaction on Airbnb. I noticed a host had a bunch of repeated reviews from two other people, also hosts. So I messaged him to ask about it and he said "we are Airbnb employees and we review each others units". So essentially Airbnb astroturfs its reviews.

@TheAtlantic @olgakhazan One thing the article only mentioned from the renter's side: in some areas, renters have little or no protection; in San Francisco, landlords have little or no protection. This makes renting out your own house in SF very risky (IMO.) Probably reduces inventory.

I've been asleep for 40 years, please help: When did email become exclusively for scheduling phone calls?

The people in my life who are now retirees were never so uptight about scheduling as they are in retirement. I've never seen fuller calendars on any of 'em! Trying to plan anything is a nightmare. I'm still working, it should be MY calendar that is the issue!
