Not a single other company spam calls me as much as my bank. @FNBSA | @Rb__sa I've had 5 calls today - and had the phone put down on me when I answer. This is absurd, every few weeks I get a spate like this and I can't even tell you what your people want because they hang up.

@Rb__sa @FNBSA When I (FINALLY) spoke to a call centre agent after last week's spam call fiasco and said I was not interested in the product, I thought I'd be left alone. I was wrong. I don't even know if I can safely block this number in case it is also used for non-sales comms @Rb__sa @FNBSA

@Rb__sa @Rb__sa @FNBSA This week I have received NINE calls from a verified number associated with your brand. Apart from two instances where I hung up, EVERY call has dropped as I've answered. Please help me make it go away.

Hi @Rb__sa Today I have received FIVE calls from a Truecaller-verified FNB number. As soon as I answer, the number hangs up. How can I be removed from what is clearly a robot-calling list??

Final tally - 6 hr 18 minutes to get my new ID in my hand (HOORAY!) Flushed with victory, I charged off to the Traffic Department only to be told I needed my marriage certificate to change my name on my driver's... I was so close. Ya win some. Ya lose some.

Finally made it into the Home Affairs building after just shy of six hours in the queue outside. Staff just told an angry queuer that there's still a chance we won't be able to be helped today. Send positive vibes. It's been a long day.

Today I'm attempting the dual horror of Home Affairs and the Traffic Department. Is it possible? Is it sane? 30 minutes at Home Affairs and the queue hasn't moved. This bodes... Poorly.

@TheGrahamZA That sounds about right. Even though the online booking system has been opened up for ID/passport applications there's still an enormous amount of suspicion of "queue jumping"

@candacew We got married at Home Affairs in Paarl. Because you have to book in advance, you get to skip the big queue and just go to where you need to be. A few people thought we were skipping the queue and some lady shouted that my now wife is a b**** for doing so. Oh, South Africa.

And I'm done! 1 hr 20 min start to finish, and that's with 30 minutes of system downtime. The appointment bookings (if you can get one!) have absolutely changed the game.

At Home Affairs, booked an appointment for 10-11 and walked straight in with that VIP feeling. And then that old chestnut: "The system is offline". Will we make it before I need to be back at the office at 12? Stay tuned.
