I’m with Rich Paul on this one. Shaq was popular and well known but Iverson influenced cultural. Kobe was extremely unpopular at several points during his career before the back to back championships and shouldn’t be included in this conversation.

Kobe was literally the most unpopular player in the NBA for several years in the early 2000s and he didn’t influence American culture the way Ai did in the early 2000s.

@candidateTHOMAS Inversion was arrested in high school and convicted of a felony before getting clemency by governor, this allowed him to get the scholarship from GT and be mentored by John Thompson jr. So mentioning Kobe's legal issues without mentioning AI's is wack.

@candidateTHOMAS Watching the 2008 Beijing Olympics opening ceremony really puts it into perspective. Kobe was arguably the most popular athlete in China, and he was sharing the stage with Messi, Phelps, Federer, and so many other global icons. Rich Paul is crazy.
