@1NewsNZ Their house brand (Living and Co) is a bit shit but I like their other stuff. They have the cheapest free range eggs.

It's a tough time to be The Warehouse. How has the iconic retailer found itself in what appears to be perilous shape? And will restructuring plans announced this week be enough? 👇 1news.co.nz/2024/06/23/wha…

@NZFatso @nzherald You're obviously not a Kiwi if you don't understand the significance of a rahui. Even you don't understand it, have some respect.

@AucklandCDEM Are these continual warnings not becoming a bit like the boy that cried wolf. Maybe just warn us when something serious is going to happen so people don't just scroll on past.

Auckland Emergency Management (AEM)
Mōrena Auckland. ⛈ There's been some thunderstorm activity around the region and expected to continue for the morning, with really heavy rain in places. Surface flooding is very possible. 🚗Drive to the conditions, and don't drive through floodwaters. ^MP

@RawdonChristie Maybe it's because of the state of emergency?! Or because of the slips and flooding blocking roads? Or because of the need to keep as much traffic off the road as possible for essential vehicles? Or because of the nightmare of evacuating a flooded school?

I still can’t see a valid reason why every school in Auckland has to be forced to close for the week. This surely should be a choice for schools and parents to make for themselves on a case-by-case basis.

@dbseymour Did you happen to hear about the state of emergency? Did you see how many roads were closed earlier today? Keep as many cars off the road as possible. Reduce the need for travel. You truly are clueless.

The Government forcing every Auckland school to close for a week because 20 schools are flood damaged is dictatorial, impractical, and infuriating. With everything parents are facing, this last minute decision is the last thing they need... 1/2

When the rain got heavy it was kinda fun seeing the kids run outside in the pond on our lawn. But having seen videos of kids swimming in very dodgy looking stormwater 💩, I thought I should share this video we recently made with @AklCouncil on what NOT to do...

@hamishpricenz Of course she 'dithered'. It was a HUGE, unprecedented decision, and border restrictions were already in place. But with hundreds of properties being flooded, cars being washed away, emergency services stretched, Brown still hadn't done a thing. No comparison.

@KiwiMoet We're not idiots. We can tell the difference between someone who is 'not great at pressers' vs someone who is not cut out for the job. It's not the WAY he is conveying his message, it's the actual message itself that's the problem.

So Wayne Brown is not great at pressers. But frankly, politicians doing helicopter rides and media walkabouts achieve nothing - in fact they get in the way. And get rid of the nodding heads that trail them Rather hear from CD, FENZ, Police than politicians in an emergency,

@FrankMcRae He's kind of wrong in that it is s local council that decide on zoning and gives planning permission. If those houses shouldn't have been there, why did the council allow it?

@Suzyiam There's still deniers. Someone just tweeted asking why Auckland should spend so much money improving stormwater infrastructure for these 'once in a century' catastrophic events. How about when we had flooding, slips and evacuations in Auckland in Aug 2021?

@hamishpricenz But these weather events are no longer going to be 'once in a century'. As it is, floods are the most frequent and costly natural disasters in New Zealand.

The minimum wage has increased by 35% since Labour took office - worker productivity by just 5%. There’s no magic money tree. Small businesses need a breather.
