@LapGong @TheAttleeStan @Antikeburg He’s not muffled the MSM over alleged Ukrainian rent boy arsonists of PM’s property & the current trial, with a far-fetched motive. Burnham likely buys his own clothes & spectacles rather than Lord Ali footing the bill.

@DebiEvansMatron 1980’s - it’s actually mouth care that, as student nurses, was drummed into us as really important. Mouth care trays kept on patients’ lockers and glycerin to moisten the tongue. Dentures clearly labelled with patient’s name. You’re right about clean bedding! Back rounds..!

Nursing in the 1970s – A World Away from Today. Back then, we changed patients’ beds daily sometimes more if needs required. Fresh, crisp sheets weren’t a luxury; they actually made people feel better. There was something healing about climbing into a clean bed with properly tucked envelope corners. We knew all our patients by name and they knew ours. Doctors in white coats and nurses in uniforms. We knew who everyone was. The ward looked welcoming. Vases of flowers from relatives and the local flower stand to the entrance of the hospital. adorned the bedsides. Families weren’t “visitors” to be tolerated, on the contrary they were welcomed, included, and often helped with little jobs. It felt like a community. Any problems, family would be 1st to spot and report. Matron ruled the roost. You didn’t want a summons to her office. One look from her and you straightened your apron and your attitude. Standards were non-negotiable. We turned bedridden or unconscious patients every two hours, religiously, to prevent pressure sores. No exceptions. Fluid balance charts hung at the end of every bed, constantly we encouraged patients to drink, recorded every sip, and took mouth care seriously. Basic care was never “basic”, it was fundamental. Doctors sometimes prescribed a pint of Guinness for the anaemic or a sherry for the frail elderly. It worked wonders for appetite and morale. After acute illness, patients went to proper convalescent homes for a week or two by the sea. Fresh air, good food, gentle exercise. It prevented bed-blocking and got people home stronger. Palliative care wasn’t a separate specialty it was woven into our training. We knew how to sit with the dying, hold a hand, ease discomfort. TLC wasn’t a slogan. It was our mantra. We didn’t have fancy equipment or endless paperwork, but we had time for patients. We saw the person, not just the diagnosis. So… what on earth went wrong? How did we move from this to where basic care is sometimes rushed or non existent, relatives feel like a nuisance, and “turning” someone properly is squeezed between targets and tick-boxes? When did we lose the simple things that actually made people feel safe and cared for? This is just the tip of an iceberg, I could go on. I’d love to hear from other nurses who trained or worked in that era. What do you remember most fondly? #Nursing #1970s #OldSchoolNursing #TLC #PatientCare

@glosswitch She was isolated. Forbidden from speaking with anyone about the case. During lockdown. Look at the pain, damage & harm that’s been caused by the recklessness, selfishness & harm of the 2 defendants.

Watched this last night and totally agree with this review - the police failure to protect Caroline Muirhead (without whom they'd have nothing) was appalling, showing a total lack of understanding of male violence and vulnerability theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2…

1/ Today Morgan McSweeney — the operative who put Peter Mandelson in Washington, co-founded the group behind the "Disinformation Dozen," and ran 10 Downing Street — answered questions in public for the first time in his career. The Foreign Affairs Committee transcript is now Hansard. Several findings.🧵👇

6/ On 20 October 2025 — six weeks after Mandelson was sacked — McSweeney's government phone was stolen on a London street. He had disappearing messages on with most contacts, including Mandelson. He called Number 10 first. Then 999. He did not identify himself to police as the Prime Minister's chief of staff. The phone has not been recovered.

I’m willing someone to ask Morgan McSweeney: how did you phone No 10 when your phone had just been stolen? If you used someone else’s phone, had you memorised the number?

@Azeem_Majeed You cannot prove that the “blood” in the tube belongs to the name quoted on the tube. Currently, there’s a trace back to the professional who’s taken the blood & often, their name is on the accompanying form. Open goal for tampering results.

NHS England is planning to introduce self-testing to allow patients to carry out a range of blood tests at home. Self-testing could reduce demands on NHS phlebotomy services but will need monitoring to ensure cost-effectiveness and equitable take-up. pulsetoday.co.uk/news/clinical-…

Today at 10:30 am, Court 2 at the Old Bailey will see the trial of the two Ukrainian men and one Romanian man for their arson attack on Keir Starmer’s properties and car. The judge is Sir Neil Garnham. Let’s talk about Sir Neil for a minute: he was the lawyer for the Met Police in the Leveson Inquiry. Starmer was the Director of Public Prosecutions at the time. Sir Neil acted for the government in the Litvinenko poisoning case. It must be difficult to find a judge that is not linked to Starmer and I suspect that this case will be closely scrutinised. What's your bets on this ??

I was skeptical, but now I’m completely convinced. Fencing will become super popular due to this one very particular improvement to the sport. “Sword tip visualization” It’s going to debut at the summer olympics. Every single duel will look like a bloody lightsaber fight

@AtTheRaces @LBCNewsWales Evan Williams received a 3 year custodial sentence. That’s one year less than the man who felled the Sycamore Gap tree got. He’s out on early release after serving 9 months in jail. By the same metric, Williams could be out in 7 months!

@ben_toto23 I’ve also visited the War Remnants Museum (wish we’d taken hand-held fans, as no air-con & extreme heat caused visitors to fatigue -tip!) It was an amazing, shocking experience. Birth defects recorded many years later to American soldiers’ kids as well as Vietnamese. Recommend

Vietnam is one of the most incredible countries I’ve ever been to. Its history is incredible. If you haven’t been, I suggest starting in the North (Hanoi) and then travelling by train to the South. I’ve added a few pictures too. ❤️ I visited the War Remnants Museum in Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City a while back. There’s a dedicated section on Agent Orange including preserved fetuses and stillborns with severe birth defects attributed to it. I strongly urge everyone to go if you visit. We shouldn’t shy away from history. We should lean into it. How do we learn otherwise.

Horrifying. I just watched a documentary about Vietnamese children with birth defects generations on after the land was sprayed with Agent Orange for the “same reason”. Monsanto made Agent Orange and they are the primary producers of Glyphosate . For a country to spray toxic chemical like this an over farm land is truly horrifying. It’s also interesting that Trump granted the makers of this poison legal immunity from prosecution in the USA

@AllisonPearson @Nowaykid Correct. It’s about cutting home-grown drs’ nuts off. Govt do not want a large, powerful, articulate group of professionals. They’ve broken down their roles & devolved responsibilities to other HC professionals (cheaper, too). Ruling classes won’t suffer as private GPs.

The doctors’ strike is only partly about money. The number of training places available after leaving F2 foundation is tiny. It drives British doctors abroad or prevents them pursuing a specialty. So the NHS appoints less capable foreign applicants. A shaming fiasco.
