@JCordy37 I like footy but Saturday was a horrific watch. We went from Port v Richmond, which you could have fooled me into believing it was local footy, to a 130 point drubbing. AFL have a real issue at the moment and they are going to dilute the talent pool even further with Tas.

I think we should explore the idea of giving media jobs to people who like watching footy.

@ricsalizzo Below internationals it has no marketing appeal. The game doesn’t invoke any passion at the lower level probably as a result of the whole agenda of internationals which are just an event in between world cups.

Maybe the biggest myth in cricket is that T20 cricket is more entertaining than other formats. It's really not. It takes batting elegance & pounds it out of shape. Turns the art of bowling into a humiliation ritual. Rewards brawn over brain. Makes stars out of nobodies. I hate it

@footyindustryAU There’s 3 Aussie rules clubs in the western corridor and all of them perform terribly. The Ipswich eagles side is mostly filled with RAAFies. On the other hand, Ipswich RL have 14 teams all playing at a very high standard. ISHS is one of the best RL schools in Australia.

The "$billion invasion" as a national AFL strategy that includes rebuilding Tasmanias grassroots, and presumably spending more in WA to combat the arrival of the Bears. Post 2032 is when we know if theres real growth in the Lions with a massive increase in their stadium capacity. The NRL can make huge strides in NZ if it gives the Warriors a meaningful derby and a new tv deal that boosts wages to irresistable levels for Union types.

Just for those asking about the Odsal Stadium floodlights. I spoke to a member of staff from Sky Sports who confirmed the following; because the cameras are looking right down on the new LED boards around the pitch, the brightness from these boards is affecting the cameras. So Sky Sports have requested for the LED boards to be dimmed as much as possible whilst also dimming their cameras which then makes the broadcast look dark to viewers. I can confirm that it’s not as dark in the ground as it looks on the television screens at home.

Games like today show there's really nowt wrong with the #SuperLeague product. It's just casual audiences (rightly) care about internationals and European Rugby League just begs Australia for them. Imagine if this was FT Wales Vs England, there would be no worry about tv money

@BenDon05 People have been asleep at the wheel on this. The game is a terrible watch but winning teams mean crowds turn up anyway - they want those winning teams in Qld and Sydney. They cannot grow elsewhere so they have to keep them winning to support their “national” agenda.

What the modern AFL seem to have forgotten is that Coll, Carl, Ess and Rich’s huge followings are the reason the VFL became the AFL. Now they’re taking our clubs’ advantages away and giving it to clubs with no following (GC, GWS, BNE, SYD)…assuming we’ll stay loyal to the code

@kieran_shaker @VinceRugari Spectator sport is better without sun shadows. Nothing worse at a game than watching silhouttes of players due to the glaring sun in your eyes all game.

@VinceRugari To he honest I look at that and think of course the NRL would rate higher when its at 8pm on a Sunday night. Feel like more people are gonna be home at that time while a 2:30pm Sat slot is prime for watch parties and pubs.
