FWIW - I suspect that if the Interview article on the young men of Wall Street had been published a few months ago, no one would have blinked.
Mood is changing and with that our expectations of decision-making.

Once a year I get a student asks “why do we need private banks, wouldn’t the govt be more efficient?”
Previously I would give a long unconvincing answer like innovations in underwriting etc.
This year I asked what they thought about Trump deciding who did and did not get loans.

It is useful for citizens who lean towards either party to engage in contingent reasoning: Yes, I want to give the govt more power to do X because I agree with X, but how will the govt use that power when the other party is in charge?

Here are Trump's three Fed-related "truths" in the 25 hours before the payroll report.
In my subjective opinion, he was more strident and harsher than usual in his criticism of Powell.
This is especially the case for the two "truths" this morning, in the two hours before the release, when he could have seen the full report.
WITH HINDSIGHT, it does read like him lashing out against Powell, blaming him for a weak payroll report that was not yet released.
