@kurnialexander Aku jg mikir gini sebagai penonton. Its insane to think that films like Arisan, Berbagi Suami, Quickie Express, etc malah ga bisa dibikin skrg. Apa krn reach penonton jd lebih luas, lbh takut kena boikot?

2010an akhir sampai sekarang, dalam mainstream, kita kayak hit a wall in terms of challenging status quo. Hampir nggak ada yang subversif, bahkan yang lebih berani juga kesannya kayak di ujung batas konservatisme paling moderat tapi tetap nggak akan step keluar. It’s like kita sebenernya punya kesadaran kolektif tentang apa yang akan nyinggung audiens umum & berusaha menjaga… keamanan. Kalau misal itu emang dari hati & emang yang pengen disampaikan, bagus. Yang aku concern paling kalau ada filmmaker yang sengaja nge-filter diri mereka untuk tetap ada di batas itu & ketika ada filmmaker yang berani keluar batas tapi nggak punya akses ke audiens agar bisa menormalisasikan ini—paling mentok di festival sehingga audiensnya niche. Untuk hal ini, aku kangen era 2000an awal.

It’s insane that WALL-E wasn’t even nominated for Best Picture, especially considering how close it came. It had six Oscar nominations, including Best Original Screenplay, which is already a huge indicator of how highly it was regarded. At the time, there were only five slots for Best Picture, if the category had already been expanded like it is now, there’s no doubt WALL-E would’ve easily secured a nomination for Best Picture

Selamat Hari Film Nasional! ❤️🇮🇩📽️ Cuma mau ngingetin sedikit saja: Dalam sejarah FFI, Mouly Surya masih jadi satu-satunya sutradara perempuan yang pernah menang kategori “Sutradara Terbaik” (Fiksi, 2008) dan bahkan satu-satunya yang menang lebih dari sekali (Marlina, 2018). Sampai sekarang, belum ada lagi sutradara perempuan lain yang berhasil menyusul, not even Kamila Andini! FFI needs to fix its system, because the lack of recognition for female directors is getting ridiculous. FFI ataupun Oscar sama aja, tapi FFI yang paling parah sih 😭
