🚨 Today, a bill to ban "assault weapons" was voted out of committee in the Virginia Senate-- and it essentially makes gun ownership illegal in the commonwealth. Its author is State Senator Saddam Azlan Salim, who was born in Bangladesh. In Virginia's code, an "assault weapon" is defined as "any semi-automatic center-fire rifle or pistol that expels single or multiple projectiles." The bill makes it a Class 1 misdemeanor to possess or sell an assault weapon under this definition-- as well as any magazine that holds over 10 rounds. Most firearms fit under this definition. If signed into law, it would turn millions of law abiding gun owners in Virginia into felons with the stroke of a pen.

The Spanish government has just agreed to launch an extraordinary regularization process that could grant legal residence and work permits to over 500,000 undocumented migrants. Through a Royal Decree approved in the Council of Ministers, migrants who were already living in Spain before December 31, 2025, and can prove at least five continuous months of residence will be able to apply for full legalization. Applications are expected to open around April 2026 and run until June 30, 2026. Once approved, applicants get a one-year residence and work permit right away, suspending any expulsion risks during the process.
