@omarali50 @navgneh @Atharvalfg When things aren’t going well, a lot of explanations are given for it. The only realistic ones are those that connect them with the issues. The problems Pakistan faces are due to low IQ and external existential threats. India doesn’t have the second issue, so it’s doing better.

It is not just stagnation .. Especially in the west Pakistan version of the story, The afrikaner type obsession of the settler colonist elite with staying on top (with far less justification) has created a state whose actual population OR geography do not correspond with its charter state (the delhi sultanate/aurangzeb etc).. The identity crisis is extreme in west Pakistan (east Pakistan can be the "Muslim bengali state", what is west Pakistan?

None of these people bothered to look up what happened during European colonization. It was systematic stripping off of the colony’s resources and racist exploitation of its people to benefit the colonizing states. Muslims did none of this.

Reason as to why ethnonationalism is more strong in Pakistan than in India isn't in spite of Islam but rather because of it. Ethnonationalism doesn't really work in a caste-stratified society like India where upper castes of different ethnicities feel themselves closer to one
