Question 8 was from Pentwyn and Llanedeyrn councillor Dan Naughton asking about the roll out of soft plastic recycling

Question 5 is from Penylan councillor Imran Latif calling on the council to do more to tackle potholes in our city

As a supplementary question @rodneyberman asked for a consultation meeting to be held in Penylan or near Bro Edern, as the nearest meeting is St Mellons. The cabinet member wouldn’t agree to this either

We are now onto oral questions. Question 1 is from our leader and Penylan councillor @rodneyberman asking the council to drop the option of closing Ysgol Bro Edern and building a new school on the south. She refused to drop the option

Our deputy leader @joseph_carterUK tabled an amendment which @rodneyberman second calling for the council to practice what it preaches, lead by example stop the Park and Ride proposals

Almost 2700 people signed the petition calling on the council to withdraw the plans to demolish the Pentwyn Park and Ride and build an energy intensive data centre that will wreck this council’s green credentials

We’re onto the second motion. Two backbench Labour councillors have tabled a motion called for a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty and we have tabled an amendment calling on the council to save the Pentwyn Park and Ride

Our Cyncoed and Lakeside councillor @bablinmolik talked about her own experience of seeing the leaks and neglect at the UHW. She talked about the evidence of patients recovering better in modern hospitals focussed on wellbeing

Our deputy leader @joseph_carterUK seconded the motion. He accused Labour of making unfunded promises they can’t deliver. They’ve had 27 years to invest in the UHW have failed to do so, only making promises during an election. We need investment and we need a change of government

‘Where Labour has let our hospital fall into disrepair and failed to come up with a plan to fix it, Liberal Democrats will make sure whoever leads the next Welsh Government commits to rebuilding UHW.‘

After a short break, we are now debating our amendment calling for a plan to refurbish the University Hospital of Wales at the Heath.

Penylan councillor @jon_shimmin praised the opening of the new Ysgol Cynefin and the support it will provide children with additional learning needs

On the education statement, our education spokesperson @roberthopkins59 asked about the additional learning needs proposals including new staff being recruited. He asked about the training and support they will be getting in their new roles
