@ProudSocialist No it isn’t, socialism is jealousy of those that were successful and threatened the government, so they taxed them out of money and who would guess what happens next, the heads of the government were rich and the rest of that society struggled to survive

Putting the common good over profit is the essence of socialism. Putting profit over people is the essence of capitalism. Without corporate media influence, people choose socialism over capitalism. This is why 6 corporations own 90% of the media to ensure people never wake up.

Pete Hegseth: “The single dumbest phrase in military history is ‘Our diversity is our strength.’” Actually, the single dumbest phrase in military history is “Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.” Pete said this to West Point’s Class of 2026, which is 21% women and 40% non-white.

Japan has a history of subjugated citizens and that mentality continues to this day. They are wonderful people but the second amendment is to keep the citizens with the ability to fight tyranny from the government because our founding fathers saw over and over that absolute power corrupts absolutely so they tried to set up a way for the citizens to be able to change things as long as it didn’t take away your God given rights

@omgsidewalks It actually isn’t. The planet is currently greener than it has ever been in recorded history. Climate change that these scientists are making predictions on hundred years of data when the climate swings wildly over the last million years

Honestly, I’m sick and tired of grown adults calling the climate crisis a hoax. It’s not even a debate, the science has been settled for decades. Your ignorance is not just embarrassing, it is actively destroying the planet and every living thing on it.

The data centers they are trying to bring online would tap into the grids and they would use more electricity than all of the households in the US combined in about a month for what we use in a year. We would see huge energy bill increases. If they are forced to provide their own energy off grid, then a lot people would be onboard.

I’ve looked into this very minimally, so I’m genuinely asking. Why are people opposing data centers so hard? My gut feeling is it’s hippies opposing nuclear power 2.0, but I’m willing to be convinced otherwise.

did any of them look at the paperwork? I keep seeing posts like this, but never is one saying, HEY, READ THE TERMS OF THE LOAN BEFORE SIGNING! This sounds more like she got a payday loan to pay for college and can't understand how 8% rate that compounds monthly works. This goes to show that Department of Education has failed everyone by not teaching the simple methods of how compounding works. If it is not government sponsored, then she could just file for bankruptcy because she will never be able to pay back the loan on her social worker salary. College should be for STEM only, the rest can be learned on the job or with an apprenticeship.

An American checks her student loans. She borrowed $49,548.74. After 120 payments, she’s paid $25,558.36. Her current balance? $50,121.33. After PAYING $25k… she now owes MORE than she originally borrowed. This isn’t aid — it’s legalized USURY.

Actually family plans have a family deductible and it is more like $10k. Still not reasonable, but look at how we got here and then ask why would you want to trust the same people that caused the prices to then handle your healthcare. Everywhere universal healthcare exists, the healthcare is poor and does a disservice to its communities, Look at the UK, their doctors are all foreign born and studied from outside their country. Third world education because the doctors that were there knew the system was failing and they couldn’t make a living. There are so many issues with healthcare around the world, but the real horror stories come from universal healthcare countries.

An American father of three pays $1,500 a month for “family coverage.” Each person has a $6,000 deductible. That’s $18,000 a year just to keep the plan — plus tens of thousands more before it actually covers anything. This isn’t coverage — it’s a scam.

That should apply to anyone in the Federal government. Lets not point fingers unless you are ready to take Pelosi to court and strip all of her and her husband's profits away, then put them in prison. You get onboard with that, then I will be behind getting all in Congress that have done the same thing, no matter which side of the aisle. Otherwise, stop grandstanding.

Not surprised since Donald Trump, the guy Mike Johnson is performing for, made thousands of stock trades already this year. I’ve got a better idea….ban Mike Johnson, Donald Trump, every cabinet member and every member of Congress from trading stocks and making money off of their jobs. If they don’t like it, they can do something else.
The Intellectualist@highbrow_nobrow

Democracy requires constant defense. It does not maintain itself. Republicans want to require citizenship documents to vote in federal elections. On its face, it sounds administrative. In practice, it would disenfranchise millions of eligible voters — disproportionately Black, brown, and low-income Americans. This is not about election integrity. There is no evidence of widespread non-citizen voting. This is about who gets to participate in democracy. I believe in a democracy that is accessible to every eligible citizen. Not just the ones who happen to have their papers. We will fight this legislation with everything we have.

Because it is theft…there is no way around it and if the government starts stealing from them, then they will expand to steal from everyone. Just look at the income tax…it was a wealth tax of 5% on the wealthiest to help the government make ends meet. Now we all pay over 20%. They never put anything in place unless they think it is a good way to get money from all.
