The MLSPA has released an updated Salary Guide as of April 14, 2026 and there are A LOT of fascinating notes for @stlCITYsc fans: - CITY's player spend is $18.8m - good for 18th among MLS teams. It dropped 5 spots comparatively from 2025, despite a rising salary spend of ~$700k - Roman Bürki's new salary is $2.75m guaranteed, an increase of over $1m over last season.. The biggest thing we were looking forward to was how much his new contract increased from last year and this was extreme. - Bürki is not only the highest paid CITY player, but he's the highest paid GK in all of MLS. Matt Turner, the next highest paid makes $1.94m guaranteed. Bürki is on a 2 year contract w/an option and now we now he's a DP who can't be bought down even after this year. - Sergio Córdova, a DP for bookkeeping reasons & on loan from Young Boys through June, has a $1.21m salary. The presumption is that if his option is picked up, he won't count as a DP and this salary would put him firmly in the TAM player level. - Chris Durkin, at $668,500, received a $148k compensation bump w/his new contract over last season while Simon Becher at $444,375, received a $205k increase. - Other new signings: Polvara ($436k), Wallem ($657k), MacNaughton ($219k), Mbacke ($496k) and Santos ($226k). - And finally - an alignment note: right now, 6 of our top 8 paid players are not locked and loaded every match starters (much less producing as such right now) #AllForCITY

@ChatCityTactics Solid take. I like Burki for nostalgic reasons - but hard to argue the decision making here. When Burki spoke about it after signing - he was pretty clear in saying - It wasn’t my goal to intentionally make the team less competitive - they gave me an offer and I accepted.

To further highlight this decision-making problem: 5/10, or 50%, of #AllForCITY's highest earners do not even qualify for cards as they have not met the 450-minute (5 games) minimum.

@STLSoccerNews I am not technically wise enough in soccer fouls to parse through it myself- I was mainly going on most people felt it was a foul on Becher but soft- it felt like similar conact and calls we had seen all game- to me anyway.

@cardsball45 I don't think your approach is wrong at all, because if you step through it that way, I agree, it has to be DOGSO - but given that Becher essentially initiated the contact I didn't think it was a foul to begin with.

As a data guy by day - this is a almost random scatter plot -statistically insignificant - super slightly positive correlation. It is cool data - nice work on the site - it was my first visit. You would have to add more to this to build the case that rotation alone is the culprit.
