@tangotiger Clock starts when it hits the rim. If you miss the rim & it hits the floor, it's an automatic dead ball, & the opponent gets to inbound it. If they have a timeout, they can use it to advance the ball to their end. Best play would be to bounce off the rim high in the air

Question for my basketball fans:
Suppose at free throw (last throw), with 0.4 seconds to go, instead of shooting it at the basket, you simply bounce it hard on the ground directly in front of you, so it goes up in the air. When does the clock start post-free-throw?

If they had used 10 sec in back court to bring ball up it’s a violation , yet w/o ever possessing the ball they only get 20. Pretty sure if a team simply throws ball ob in their backcourt the opp gets a full 30
