@scottiev @sayitagainsam1 @wholemars I have driven hundreds of thousands of miles without an accident caused by me over 70 years. But I still feel safer diving FSD than I ever felt - ever!!!

Tesla’s decision to focus on pure vision will go down as the most important strategic decision in their history, and it’s crazy that so few people have grasped that yet.
Just go take a ride in both. The Tesla is smooth and human like. Once you’ve experienced it, you’ll start to notice how slow and jerky the Waymo is. The reason the Tesla drives better is because of the massive dataset enabled by computer vision sensors in every car.
To the extent LIDAR is useful, you can always layer that on top of the pure vision system that is already safe enough to drive the car on its own. You’ll mop the floor with anyone who requires multiple sensor modalities and can’t drive if any of them go down.
Waymo is giving millions of rides, but they’ve driven about 200 million miles. Tesla Self-Driving has been used for 8.5 billion miles, making it by far the most used self-driving software in the world. They’re also now operating without a driver in Austin.
The goal isn’t millions, it’s trillions of miles traveled a year. Good luck getting there with a car that is 3x more expensive and has yet to turn a profit. Good luck scaling to South America, Asia, and Africa with a car that costs $75,000 and requires you to shoot out laser beams constantly.
Less is more. Layer on whatever additional sensor modalities you want to the extent it improves anything, but people don’t realize how powerful it is to have a single end to end model that can drive more safely than a human even if all the sensors go out except the cameras.
If the cameras go out you can’t drive the car anyway, even with LIDAR, because you need to be able to see traffic lights, signs, etc. Computer vision is both necessary and sufficient for fully autonomous driving. Adding anything extra as a requirement just holds back the technology from scaling and stopping many preventable deaths and injuries.

tesla's decision to point blank refuse to touch lidar has proven to be one of the most insane self owns of any technology company ever. they easily have the research talent, and waymo has proved they could be doing millions of fully autonomous rides. at this point it's a choice

@scottiev @NFLChip @wholemars Would you mind doing a direct comparison with humans!!! Who keeps track of the millions of gender-benders humans create??? How many people have Tesla FSD drivers killed per mile driven compared to those killed per mile by human drivers?
C’mon! Make your argument!!

@ArnieB54331218 @joni_askola You have just proved you are one of the stupid people!!

@tavus @Scobleizer This is exactly the kind of product that would allow artificial generation of real people saying things that they would never say themselves. Sounds like a great tool for propaganda!
English

@Scobleizer Your last sentence is a bit foolish. I use FSD on every trip, be it to the local store, or a long trip of several hours. It is fantastic. BUT there are a number of AI’s and not all are reliable. Some still produce hallucinatory responses. Total trust goes a bit too far!

Our robot has driven me and the family for two hours in driving rain across one of USA’s most dangerous roads.
Without my hands touching the wheel once.
It is how it handled pudddles, two brown streams crossing the road that most impresses me. While coming at us fast.
None of you will do better. It was perfect.
Which leads to trust.
Once you trust a company with your life you will buy anything that company offers.
People have no idea how good the AI is from @tesla.
Trust will sell a lot of robots.
Better. It gets me to trust all AI.

@UltraDane @elonmusk Deport convicted criminals. Not innocents. Least of all the mothers and children.

Rachael Anderson would have turned 32 yrs old this coming Wednesday, but that will never happen, she was murdered in 2018 by a complete stranger.
Anthony Pardon broke into Rachael's apartment, hogtied her, gagged her, raped, strangled, beat, & stabbed her over 50X with a steak knife in the head, all on her 24th birthday.
Anthony Pardon, who brutally raped & murdered Rachael Anderson, had a horrific rap sheet which included:
1. Conviction for raping a 9-month-old infant
2. Convictions for aggravated robbery, more rapes, attempted murder
3. Registered sex offender + GPS monitored
4. Repeat violent offender
In what universe does an animal like that get another chance? Not in mine. Yet he was released from prison, and he started raping and killing (immediately) all over again.
RIP Rachael

@KStuartWilson @Old_But_Gold50s Well the score was not written by AI. Ravel the composer died by 1935. No AI to help him. Even if played by AI generated instruments, who cares? Human or AI? It makes no difference to the experience of the music!!!
English

@Old_But_Gold50s Wonderful, but part of me thinks this is AI. Please prove me wrong. The piano is off at the start, the trumpet sounds wrong. Indian characters on the snare. These days we need credentials.

🚨NEW: Pete Hegseth is cutting Senator Mark Kelly’s military pension and demoting his rank as punishment for telling service-members to not follow illegal orders in a recent video.
RETWEET if you stand with @CaptMarkKelly against Hegseth!
