@wembleystadium Absolutely shocking working conditions for young temporary employees. No regard for ACAS guidelines. No EDI awareness. Daughter scolded for standing the wrong way after working for hours with no break in heat. Disgusting.

@ucu @CambridgeUCU 2/2 What a fiasco for lecturers. Deducted pay, financial hardship & very little gained by the #MAB. Now lecturers have an enormous backlog of work to mark. They should feel angry. The strategy was ill conceived & the #MAB barely registered with the general public.

@ucu @CambridgeUCU 1/2 Mixed feelings about this. Relieved that my daughter & 1000s of other students will get their exams marked & graduate. But there are no winners here. Huge amounts of anxiety for students, lost job & PG course offers & financial loss for international students.

@DSCoremans @ucu @CambridgeUCU @Cambridge_Uni @StrathclydeUCU If there was any real evidence that the #MAB will be effective I might think differently. A lot of disruption & distress for not much gain. A different approach is needed IMO or collective action on a mass scale which is unlikely to ever happen.

@carmurp @ucu @CambridgeUCU @Cambridge_Uni now more than ever. The lecturers are not withholding our degrees, the university management are refusing to support their staff financially and failing in their duty of care for students by creating unfair working conditions.
@StrathclydeUCU we only win this together.

It is also not ok that students’ economic & professional futures are in jeopardy bc of lost job offers & training contracts

@carmurp @ucu @CambridgeUCU @Cambridge_Uni As one of the student left in provisional limbo, where I graduated four months ago but as of yet have still received no degree, no grades for two outstanding pieces of work and no feedback for my dissertation the impact of the #MAB has been devastating. I still support the @ucu

@ucu @CambridgeUCU @Cambridge_Uni genuine question - what’s the intention? Continue the #MAB & keep using the same students with #nodegree as pawns? At the same time as countless other students move seamlessly from university to employment/HE.

@ucu As a mum of a student with #nodegree here are my views on the #MAB
It is inequitable & has disproportionately affected only some students.
Students have lost job offers & PG course offers.
Students who paid 9k for their course fees have not graduated. #unethical

My daughter is feeling helpless against big & powerful institutions. I do not believe for one moment that complaining will do her any favours. Her career choice is dependent on her degree result.

Complaining = introducing bias to the marking? Understandably, my daughter is not prepared to be a subject in that particular experiment.

@ucu made a grave mistake in the whole #MAB - by encouraging students to stand with them in support. What they actually needed was students to protest *against* them & the unis. The student placidity they have created is far easier for the Chancellors/UCEA to ignore.

parents r utterly powerless as the contract is between the uni and the student - but the students with #nodegrees have no fight left - they’re exhausted, fed up & haven’t time to organise protests as they’ve now got a living to find w/out a degree 😤

We protested (& got drowned out by an organ to shut us up!) almost 2 mths on & still #nodegree for those unfortunate ones - not all students bc that would be fair and equitable - just some who are used as pawns as their lecturers believe deeply in improving conditions this way
