@BonkPhysics Not even close. I do 3 weeks of 1D and then about another 3 of 2D. The suggested time definitely doesn’t feel appropriate considering how strong of a foundation we need to build during those lessons on motion!

@MrJoeMilliano @kilroi22 I recently discovered that a B field is an E field from a moving charges frame of reference due to special relativity and now I can’t wait to teach E&M again next spring!
English

@kilroi22 It's both! We had the discussion in the context of the rocket and string paradox. It works for E&M, too. Two inertial frames agree that, say, an electron accelerates, but one frame explains why due to electric fields and the other due to magnetic fields.

You know you're teaching a good special relativity class when a student, independently from you, says, "So wait! That means two observes won't agree on their explanation for why something happens. They'll just agree on what happens." #iteachphysics

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen someone post a resistivity lab involving conductive clay…
Anyone in the #iteachphysics community know what I’m talking about? 😇

I love watching students faces light up as they do electrostatics experiments. They may be the closest thing we have in the real world to magic. #iteachphysics

@cossettej This is amazing! Where did you get the platform?
English

@DarekDewey This is genius! If I have one of these in my storage room we’ll definitely try it out

@carrillophysics Here is a method using a speaker on 8Hz recorded in slow motion. Easy to find the velocity for 1/8 second intervals.

I’m trying to do the classic coffee filter lab with physics C to determine the drag coefficient of coffee filters but don’t have access to motion sensors…
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I’m thinking they can find v average for several tiny intervals?

@MrJoeMilliano @gnuphysics Awesome, I’ll check it out. Thank you!!
English

@carrillophysics You could use video analysis to get position-time data! @gnuphysics's tool Sigmund is a great, free web-based platform to use for this purpose.

@Tweetlahuac I forgot this exists, thank you for the reminder!

@carrillophysics Have you looked here ? sites.google.com/prettygoodphys…

@msruggerio Are you able to graphically check whether bv or bv^2 is the best model for a coffee filter using this method?

Uniform Circular Motion lab apparatuses are a go! Shoutout to @fpoodry for helping me troubleshoot the upgrade to @VernierST GoDirect Force Probes and Photogates #iteachphysics

Also, thank you @BarnettDreyfuss for sharing your materials again! I found these targets in one of your folders and I’ve been using them for so many activities!
