I will explain simply: the strategic goal(s) changed over 20+ years so, in some ways / perspectives, those went unmet. Operationally and Tactically, there MIGHT be noteworthy failures to mention, but if so they could be counted on one hand. We owned that “country”, but didn’t want it.

This is going to be rather unpopular but more GWOT veterans need to realize and internalize that the US Military was defeated in Afghanistan, at all levels tactical, operational and strategic.

@PeterWrangel I think if more Vets could openly admit, we could help make a change for the next generations

🚨 JUST IN: President Trump made a POINT to President Xi that he brought the top 30 business leaders in the world SPECIFICALLY for these talks — including Elon Musk, Jensen Huang, Tim Cook and more "We ask the top 30 in the world, EVERY single one of them say yes. And I didn't want the second but the third of the company!" "I wanted only the top. And they're here today to pay respects to you, to China." "And they look forward to trade and doing business. It's going to be totally reciprocal on our behalf." LFG @ElonMusk!

What you describe as “tension” is just another way of describing empathy. To communicate, much less train, with anyone else, you have to find common ground / language. Those differing experiences simply color and flavor that “tension” and yes, it will always be there… another challenge of leadership.

@thecavedaddy That is correct. Until it’s just “guy with experience” talking to “guy with different experience” it won’t end. But maybe that’s the point. Maybe this tension is supposed to be there and test who the real OGs are.

My wife had a months-long affair with someone from work. I found out by accident, not through honesty. Yesterday I decided not to forgive her. I asked for a divorce without negotiation. Her family says I should try, that “we all make mistakes.” What they don't say is that some mistakes are repeated for months with full awareness. I'm not going to rebuild something that was broken by long-standing decisions. Love also has dignity. Am I radical for leaving, or am I the only one who understands that not everything can be forgiven? I prefer the pain of starting over to the constant doubt of staying. Cc - @/AngelporrasXx

@matinamerica @Mr_Husky1 So take the advice or… “PS - Definitely don’t trust X users for advice.” ??? I actually like most of what you posted, except marriage is a partnership, a union. It does not work when it is only one-sided. The rest is sound.

@sirdoom34 @thepoolshark Also will confirm this Alienware is good, but you need to understand the screen can scratch VERY easily, even with normal cleaning. Also, the OSD joystick has a history of failing with this model, so try to get your setup finalized and avoid using it as much as possible.

I don’t have much to say on the VA benefits thing. I’m unrated. I won’t be forever, but I can tell you that there is a very poor understanding of what 100% (or any other %) disabled means vs what it doesn’t. Regardless of if they “fix the fraud” or not, there will still be people at 100% disability rating walking around you normally. That’s simply because it doesn’t stand for how disabled you are, nor does it align directly to length of service and/or deployments. It’s a percentage of total benefit. If you’re purposefully or ignorantly misrepresenting that, especially with the resources available for you to educate yourself, we have beef.

@nawbutayefrdoe @LovesSardine @RonnieAdkins And he was, in a variety of ways. However equating disability pay with something you just automatically get by simply being in the military is the entire point of the post and conversation.

@rustytatra Because Hardline was a good game with an unpopular setting. BF6 is a bad game, which makes the setting irrelevant.

Your diatribe simply dodges the real issue and point of the original post. If you are honest, you know there are “veterans” that are given benefits based on dubious and/or dishonest claims. I could claim hearing loss and busted shoulders and other crap, but I don’t NEED it and I don’t WANT it. It’s part of the sacrifice of service and anyone that needs that explained to them is part of the problem. Others I served with that are missing parts, TBIs, PTSD, sure. But the malingerers and other damn liers are the real issue here.

As a Registered Nurse and Combat Veteran, I do multiple questions for you regarding this issue. What metric are you using to determine if a Veteran needs VA benefits? What are the criteria to determine ethical validation? Are you a healthcare professional who can conduct assessments and diagnoses? The system is there for those who have service-connected injuries. You don’t get to build your own straw-man argument and tear it down by saying the system is there for those who need it, not for those who want it. You don’t get to create a false dilemma. The system is not there for those who need it and not there for those who want it. The system is there to compensate for earned benefits related to service-connected ailments. The VA does not base claims on the character or motives of the Veteran. The VA bases its claims on scientific, evidence-based research of those impairments. Define fraud so we have a better understanding of the term and the context surrounding it. Define it how the VA defines it. Your subjective definition of fraud is irrelevant. What constitutes a real issue? A nurse can assess a real issue, and a doctor can diagnose a real medical issue. So what constitutes a real issue to you? And what evidence-based practice are you applying to your definition of a real issue? You don’t have power anymore over any subordinates. You don’t get to decide if that Navy dude has issues or not. You are not capable of assessing a patient or diagnosing a patient. You are out of your scope of practice. If a nurse assessed his issue, then that nurse made recommendations to the provider. The provider did his assessment and diagnosed him. Why? Because that is within his scope of practice, not yours. Do I think it is silly of him to do that? Perhaps. But he signed the dotted line, and the Navy was responsible for his well-being. The medical records are there. The assessment is there. The diagnosis is there. Nothing you can do about it. The concepts you outlined are solely based on your subjective interpretation of the situation and your own bias. They are not rooted in evidence-based research, nor are they coming from an expert in the field. Should I apply the same ethical and moral standard to GI Bill benefits? The same ethics and morality must be applied across the board for the logic to stand. So what are the criteria for ethics and morality—according to you? Define it. Do you ethically and morally feel you are in a position to assess and diagnose a person’s condition when you have no authority in the field to do so? Do we allow random people to make diagnoses and decide their care plans when they have no authority in the field? Not pursuing VA benefits does not make you better than those pursuing them. It’s not a gold coin you get to parade around. It means nothing—just like your opinion on the matter, medically speaking.

Just because you can collect VA benefits doesn’t mean you should. The visceral reaction some will have to this statement underscores why the VA system is so broken. Finding a way to get the VA to sign your paperwork doesn’t make your benefits ethical or moral if you know you shouldn’t have them (or know you don’t need them). Fraud is both a legal and ethical question. The system is there for those who need it, not those who want it. While normies slog through years of BS to get compensation for real issues, the gray market “consultants” get bogus ratings for thousands of others. Sure, it may not flag on an audit for illegality, but it’s still unethical and immoral. (And also still fraud). The military is at it best when troops act with the highest integrity in all things, it’s very sad to see we’ve been debased to mere legalese as we decide who will receive our finite resources for disabled veterans. To put it more bluntly, you should be embarrassed to show your face in public if you did two years in the Navy reserve and are collecting disability for “anxiety.” I don’t care if the VA said yes, if that’s the totality of your chart, what you’re doing is unethical and immoral. I guarantee you there will be many who cannot even comprehend the concepts I’ve outlined here. To them the VA is just an infinite free money machine and they’re going to take as much as possible even if they know deep down they don’t really rate it or they don’t really need it. Many haven’t even considered the ethical and moral component of their decision on whether or not to pursue these benefits. For the record I am entitled to VA disability benefits but have never pursued a VA disability rating…mainly for the reasons I’ve outline above.

A married couple revealed their government checks. “$142,000 a year.” From disability. $4,700 a month for her. $7,200 a month for him. What does it say about the system when they’re making more doing nothing than the taxpayers working to fund it.

People say this a lot without realizing that good players don’t play for good stats (KD, KPM, etc), we kinda just get them without really thinking. The only people playing for good stats are people who are trying to improve and become better, which there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. We will deadass be going 70-10 in the VC with the boys talking about dumbshit like which is better, pancakes or waffles.
