@JohnRowsthorne @JonathanGwood Good point - but who has earned the right to govern? Wasn't a strong endorsement of the Liberals either
English

@JonathanGwood Tasmania's Labor party is doing what it promised. They it would not do deals with other parties which resulted in broken promises. The libs will have first crack and don't count on a happy ending with that. Besides, I don't think Labor has earned the right to govern anyway
English

Tas Labor what are you doing? #politas #TasmaniaVotes
English

Tasmanian Labor's 'Permanent Opposition' strategy is interesting. They haven't polled over 33% in 15 years - banking everything on an outright majority (so they don't need the Greens) is courageous #politas #TasmaniaVotes
English

@FierceDinosaur You're right, they will need some of the other MPs (called MHAs). But they probably won't need the Greens. The others - Jacqui Lambie Network, possibly two progressive independents - may be enough
English

@cathymalexander If the Libs don't have a majority, how can they form a government without some sort of alliance with some of the other MPs?
English

UPDATE: they did! Greens will hold balance of power in a hung parliament, hopefully.

Well today is the day. Looking forward to Antony Green doing what he does best tonight! C'mon Tassie let's elect more Greens and indies #politas
English

@HaydenJOConnor @jameskmurphy22 Compared to previous Labor-Green governments in Tas, this one would have more Greens and fewer ALP which would be an interesting dynamic ... but what does Bec White have to lose?
English

@jameskmurphy22 @HaydenJOConnor Jacqui Lambie's views generally align more with ALP than Liberals ... although not much is known about her candidates / MHAs
English

@cathymalexander @HaydenJOConnor and Jacqui Lambie network, all like minded coalition. Yes differences but workable considering Tassies showed they don’t want LNP with 11% swing against them
English

@TravGee1980 you get to choose your own candidate! the ballot paper moves around! what's not to love
English

@twensor 'the people have spoken, we just don't know what they said yet' - Bill Clinton
English

Well the Tally Room was a blast from the past fun vibe. The punters seemed happy to grab their 15 seconds of fame there at the end.
As to the result... who knows?
Perhaps a political version of what Roland Barthes would call a writerly text. #TasmaniaVotes
English

@Julian_OBrien Yes it certainly backfired. And Lambie's policies tend more to ALP than Liberals, which will make a Liberal - JLN government tricky
English

@guntiiiii Rebecca White didn't concede and left enough wriggle room to go for government ... but did seem to speak like it would be a Liberal Govt
English

@BrionyKidd They'd better take down that website, and get on the phone to Jacqui Lambie and maybe David O'Byrne / Kristie Johnston. Or they won't get there
English

@selga55 The tally room is in the electorate that is voting 22% Green, and I think we see that reflected in the fashion tonight
English

@MarcusProud that fellow's fashion is like the election result - a mixed bag
