@the_ref14 @internet_paolo @alexbozikovic @GraphicMatt There are alternatives that serve a great deal of use cases. Sports and event spectators for instance. Most days of the week thousands of people drive into venues that are well served by train stations within 500m. They choose to drive into gridlock. It’s insane.

@internet_paolo @alexbozikovic @GraphicMatt I agree 100%. Now if we had proper alternatives (a subway system like NYC or London) combined with congestion charging, it'll work. But as things stand we don't ...so aside from the few leisurely people driving downtown, it isn't gonna resolve anything as it stands.

The fact these Israeli soldiers are using the utter destruction of Gaza for a selfie is ghastly. More significant, though, is the image's candidness and the fact the AP photographer, Tsafrir Abayov, captured these aggressors unaware of their inhumane and frivolous act.

A good example why pubs should limit use of handout pics. Too many CAN pubs use HO photos too frequently, with big risks. Harming trust in them and Journalism as a whole. Serious Journalism means hiring trusted photojournalists and experienced photo editors.

Several leading news organizations withdrew a photograph issued by Kensington Palace of Kate, Britain's Princess of Wales, after post-publication analysis showed it did not meet their editorial standards reut.rs/4c9tWCX

It was the accountability officers, reporters, opposition parties, and ultimately the public, that together successfully forced Doug Ford to capitulate today and reverse his corrupt decision to sell off the Greenbelt. That’s something to celebrate! Now, bring in the RCMP.

I wrote a short editor's letter describing The Local's approach to community journalism (spoiler: it's slow). thelocal.to/welcome-to-fin…. And throughout the issue we've got INCREDIBLE photojournalism, starting with this gorgeous work by Christopher Katsarov Luna. More soon.

The West Island of Ontario Place is slated to be destroyed. Minister @KingaSurmaMPP email promises “the removal of a significant amount of trees and vegetation.” Decisive moment for a beautiful, beloved and historic place. Mayor @oliviachow’s last chance to intervene is now.

@ndenette @MickeyDjuric I've never heard anyone ever refer to archival records stored at Library and Archives Canada as propaganda Before LAC's digital records were available online reporters used to sit at the big tables at LAC with boxes of records and photos in front of them to write their articles

The Canadian Press pool reporter was unable to report on Trudeau’s meeting with the World Bank because the Prime Minister's Office gave its last media pass to Trudeau's official videographer The PMO wouldn't say when they last barred a pool reporter from an event. thecanadianpressnews.ca/politics/trude…

Good news! So many positive outcomes from this litigation. These benefits extend way beyond trade photojournalism and should never have been allowed to have been clawed back but good on NPPA for fighting in the public interest.

This. Every weekend i see nthousands of people drive in to Toronto thinking they're going to have a fun time at some event. Instead they spend hours stuck in maddening traffic on Lakeshore and the Gardiner. Maybe not so fun.

If the publicly-funded half-billion-dollar @ThermeCanada parking lot ever gets built, I hope the people that use it are really patient when it comes time to leave, via a single exit, crossing the Martin Goodman Trail.
