@cazzoslinger927 @zihinselorgazm All of this is false Greek propaganda. The number of Turks who were subjected to genocide in the Balkans, Cyprus, and Anatolia is in the tens of millions. All of this is documented with names. Listen to the Turks. Their sources are also open to independent historical research.

@levantophile No she is definitely correct. There was nothing Advanced uniquely due tò the religion. What advances were made were from men who lived in already most advanced area of the world and you can track the decline tò the Triumph of asharites over mutazelites After only few centuries

Oriana Fallaci was one of the great journalists of the 20th century, but toward the end of her life, she increasingly turned herself into a caricature, especially in writings like this on Islam, which are frankly unserious and can be dismissed entirely out of hand. Yes, Western civilization undoubtedly rests on the shoulders of giants who produced extraordinary achievements in philosophy, science, art, literature, spirituality, music, and political thought. But the same is true of Islamic civilization - and, for that matter, Chinese, Indian, and other great civilizations. Islam not only produced towering figures in all these fields, but for much of its first millennium, it was arguably the materially and scientifically more advanced civilization of the two. That idea that Islamic civilization produced nothing beyond Muhammad and Averroes is absurd on its face. The Muslim world, in fact, produced counterparts to nearly every great Christian figure or achievement she invokes, and in most cases, there is no objective metric by which we can definitively prove one figure or achievement to be superior to the other. How, for instance, can one demonstrate that Thomas Aquinas is superior to Ibn Sina, or that Michelangelo’s sculptures are superior to the muqarnas of Isfahan or the Alhambra, when these belong largely to the realm of aesthetic and philosophical judgment rather than measurable fact? This is not to imply that all religions and civilizations are the same; total relativism would be the opposite extreme of Fallaci’s sweeping dismissal. The differences between Christianity and Islam are real and significant. One can meaningfully debate, for instance, the moral and spiritual character of their central figures: Christ as a moral revolutionary with a message centered on radical love and sacrifice, and Muhammad as prophet, lawgiver, and state-builder. One can also more broadly debate whether religion should primarily be oriented toward inner moral transformation or toward conformity to divine law and communal order, among other legitimate points of debate. Unfortunately, instead of engaging such questions, Fallaci - like so many others in the post-9/11 era - resorts to sweeping dismissal and contempt.

Su su fino a Rossini e Donizetti e Verdi and Company. Oriana Fallaci . . .

@NikosDendias Liberation of what? 😂😂 Then, it's honestly non understandable what you mean with "liberation" considering has been Ottoman for centuries and you have the habit to cry genocide if you lose a war. According to your logic: it was a turkish genocide to "free" eastern Thrace?

Since gaining independence in 1991, Ukraine has lost nearly half its population. Back then, the country had 52 million people. Today, even the most optimistic estimates put the figure at around 25 million — and the decline is accelerating. Almost half the population are pensioners, the birth rate is catastrophically low, and the war continues to claim lives while driving away those who simply want to live. In 2025 alone, Ukraine recorded just around 170 thousand births but 485 thousand deaths — nearly three times more people died than were born. Add to that roughly 300,000 official emigrants (with the real number likely significantly higher), and Ukraine is losing over 600,000 people per year on conservative estimates. At this rate, in just ten years the population could fall below 20 million. Every third Ukrainian student no longer sees a future in their own country. These are catastrophic figures. War has made Ukraine a place where life and a hopeful future feel increasingly impossible. Yet somehow, the war lobby continues to enjoy excellent funding.
