over the past few years, i’ve been thinking deeply about one simple yet complicated thing: attention. rayo (prev. thedapplist.com) was our first attempt at this - driving attention to projects and founders, with a focus on long-tail distribution. when we started, it was just a list of dapps. initially curated internally, later opened up for anyone to submit. the goal was never just to provide information, but to surface it early - relying on human intelligence to identify emerging projects, track ecosystems, and uncover where signals were forming. over time, we expanded beyond dapps to projects as a broader category - apps, tools, and infrastructure. but as we kept building, a few things became clear. the most important phase in any project’s lifecycle is before the token. this is where belief builds, narratives take shape, and conviction forms. yet there is no structured market for this phase - no onchain system where people can express that belief with capital, no transparent signal for projects to understand real demand. at the same time, most projects eventually want to go public and reach retail participants, but they don’t engage with them early enough. by the time that shift happens, it’s often too late. this creates a mismatch between what projects are building for and what the market actually wants. so the question becomes simple: if retail is the eventual audience & participant, why not involve them earlier? that’s where pre-markets come in. structured, onchain, liquid markets that let participants trade and speculate as projects evolve - with clear entry and exit, without relying on token launches or airdrops. this is the next chapter in our journey. while rayo captures attention, not.market turns that attention into liquidity. markets are the clearest representation of mindshare - not social metrics. and this matters even more in the age of ai, where information is abundant, noisy, and sometimes wrong. while that will improve over time, market structures will continue to matter because they reflect real conviction. that’s the future we’re building toward. tomorrow marks an important step in that direction. not.market is going live on mainnet, with TDL’s pre-market as the first market. we’re deliberately starting with our own token. before opening this up to external projects, we want to test it within our own ecosystem — watch how liquidity forms, understand participation, and build responsibly before scaling further. this is experimental. it can go either way. but we want to walk the talk. launching tomorrow on not.market.
