Did you know Assassin’s Creed Unity was originally planned to be a game that would span across 4 different time periods, and each time period would have it's own protagonist. The 4 time periods were: Medieval France, the French Revolution, the Belle Epoque, and WWII. The idea was too technically difficult to build, and they realised they only had 4 years to build the game, whereas this specific vision would've taken 8 years. So to save the project, they turned those 3 extra time periods into the 'Time Anomalies' that we see in the final game.
