My name is Marc Bikowsky. I’m a self-employed HVAC contractor, running a one-man business for 27 years in a small upstate New York town near Colgate University. If everything people posted about themselves on social media reflected their actual lives, you’d think we lived in a perfect world where everyone had lots of money. No one has problems, no downs—just ups. I call Facebook everyone’s highlight reel. I also never paid attention to politics until 2016. Like many, I was intrigued by a guy who used to be a TV personality. Then the world flipped upside down, and I started to really pay attention. When COVID hit, I was scared like everyone else. But just a few weeks before the virus made headlines, my wife and I got violently sick. She was bedridden for 10 days—something I’d never seen from a woman as tough as her. We fought through it, and we moved on. When the vaccine rolled out, I didn’t want it. I figured I already had COVID and survived. But I had a business to run. I was labeled “essential,” but started getting turned away from jobs because I didn’t have proof of vaccination. I gave in—not because I believed in it, but because I needed to work. I had a test done later that confirmed I had the antibodies. I was right—but it didn’t matter. That piece of paper meant more than my immune system. Within days of getting the shot, my joints swelled up. I couldn’t work. I went from installing heat pumps in three weeks to dragging it out all summer. Three trips to orthopedic surgeons, two MRIs, and not a single issue with my knees—despite years of soccer, basketball, and MMA. But the pain was real. Something changed. Worse than what happened to me, though, is what happened to my wife. After her shot, her blood pressure spiked to stroke levels. She was in perfect shape—5’0”, 108 lbs—and suddenly she was on three BP meds just to function. Then the unthinkable: stage 4, chemo-resistant cancer. Genetic testing showed no family link. It came back environmental. You tell me what changed. We cry every day. That’s not an exaggeration. And still, I see people who want to scream at guys like Elon Musk—the man uncovering the kind of corruption we’ve never seen before. I don’t care how rich or poor he is. He’s doing the work. As a guy who’s lived paycheck to paycheck, who’s dreaded tax season every year, I get it. I see through the lies. I’m not a Trump groupie, but you’d have to be blind not to ask why a billionaire would want to run this country, especially when he could be golfing in peace. You can hate the guy’s ego, but open your eyes. You think this system is working? For who? Last week, I became a grandfather. That moment flipped a switch in me. If she lives to be 100, my granddaughter will be alive in the year 3024. I don’t know how she’s going to survive in a world that’s changed so fast—and mostly for the worse—in just the last 15 years. If we keep this two-party hate machine going, what’s left for her? Hatred is hatred. Whether it’s left vs. right or black vs. white, it’s the same poison in a different bottle. We haven’t evolved; we’ve just rebranded the hate. Meanwhile, we put statues up for criminals, and we worship chaos. We vilify people trying to fix things. And we’re expected to smile through it all. I don’t hate Joe Biden. I feel bad for him. But no one’s going to convince me he ran the show. There’s was a machine behind him—and it’s broken. If I could wish for anything, other than my wife’s health, it would be for peace. For people to wake up. For us to realize we’re all in this together. All we have is the present. The future isn’t promised. The past can’t be changed. Love u all!
