Concordia U T&F Meet

A year ago he was battling against high school teams in Nebraska. Tonight, he gets the start pitching for the Creighton Bluejays against the reigning NCAA Baseball champions, the #2 LSU Tigers. After battling back from a pitching injury that sidelined him last year, he’s back on the mound competing on one of college baseball’s biggest stages. Congratulations to your Bison Research Students who qualified for the Nebraska Junior Academy of Sciences State Competition today! Thirty-three students from CCPS competed at Regionals hosted at UNK. High school qualifiers include: Karstyn C., Josiah H., Mimi B., Lochlyn A., Sophie M., and Julia B. Julia was awarded the Top Project to today’s fair and awarded a $1000 scholarship. Middle school qualifiers include Emmett B., Piper F., and Kessley F.

Bison Girls Basketball history runs deeper than many realize. Long before sanctioned state tournaments and packed arenas, there were club teams laying the groundwork. The very first dates back to the 1902–1903 season, coached by Louise Stegner. At a time when girls athletics were still in their infancy, she helped open the door for opportunities that would span generations. One might even argue that the 1917–1918 team deserves recognition as one of the most dominant squads in program history. Under the direction of Blanche Eads, that team finished a perfect 4–0. Undefeated. Untouched. While the number of games may seem small by today’s standards, those seasons represented something much bigger. These young women weren’t just playing basketball.......they were establishing a culture of competition, pride, and resilience at Central City High School. From club beginnings in the early 1900s… to the first official team in 1975–1976… to today’s Bison competing on the states biggest stage… The tradition wasn’t built overnight. It was built game by game — even when that meant just four.

NSAA State Girls Basketball is only two days away! As we prepare for this year’s trip to the state tournament hosted by the Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA), we take a moment to honor where it all began. The first-ever girls basketball team at Central City High School took the floor during the 1975–1976 season. The Bison played just four games that year.
